I got an email from Bangastang today saying that Tiger has all the needed info to make an account for Bangastang. Once this is established he's proceeding with the group buy.

I emailed Bangastang asking if a local pickup is possible since I will be driving out that way in the next few weeks anyway (avoid large freight charges). Bangastang said the hoods will be shipping directly from Tiger Racing. Why not just deal with Tiger directly instead of this middleman business? Tiger does sell directly to the consumer.. Osiris, were you able to get in contact with Paul?

That's right. I kept forgetting that the retail price for the fiberglass is $749 and the group buy price is $700? I think that's what was mentioned earlier. Bangastang didn't quote any prices in the email.

Personally, I'd only deal directly with Paul. That way I know I'm definitely not going to have any problems and Paul will get as much of the money as possible, which will go back into his racing.

I called and talked with Paul directly yesterday. He is vintage racing at Road America and then on his way to Mosport.

I talked to him concerning becoming a vendor of Tiger Racing products. I have send him my company information for consideration. Should we come to an agreement, I will attempt to provide a group buy from my company, Mad Motorsports.

Here is my plan:
  1. Provide company information to Kimmer to be a site vendor. I believe that I should be a site vendor first, before advertising anything here.
  2. Become vendor for Tiger Racing (currently we rep Enkei wheels, Hawk, Brembo, DBA, BMR, UPR, Shelby and more). If Paul approves us as a vendor, I am providing him an initial order of 4 FG and 2 CF hoods...with or without a group buy.
  3. Provide a group buy to the forum at no profit to us. Forum members would receive vendor pricing minus paypal/cc fees of about 3%. This would translate to about 12% off list for Tiger products.
  4. You would be required to pay shipping...I have only seen estimates at this time...shipping is not inexpensive as these are sent truck freight. I'm sure arrangement can be made to pickup hood directly.
What do I get? Good will, possible future customers for other products and would asked anyone who buys a Tiger Racing product to provide an honest iTrader assessment.

If this approach is acceptable with S197 forum, I will continue moving forward. Paul was sent my company information this morning for approval.

I just sent Paul a message on FB about this post. He has really been sidelined with health issues so I'm not sure when he may be able to respond but if you guys can be a little patient he may be able to set something up. Either way you won't get the hood any sooner dealing with someone else. I'll post any updates if he replies.

For the record, I ordered a FB hood from him and when it arrived it had some shipping damage. Paul took care of it and arranged for immediate replacement as well as return shipping. You're dealing with a good guy there.

NEMUSTANG - Not trying to undermine your effort here. I was typing this post, at my incredibly fast 12 words a minute, when you posted.

Carbon: $1295

@Liftedbronco - yeah he's been making these for a good while now.

@08GOGT - I believe he's working on that, but he's definitely aware.

Instead of looking all over the place, does anyone know the weights of both hoods ?

I can wait. Hell, I won't be getting my car back for a few weeks anyway.
Another reason why I want to pick up the hood directly. I can't seem to get a simple package delivered without it showing up at my door looking like the delivery driver used it as a soccer ball. Plus I'll be out that way with my truck a week after I get my car back; might as well pick it up myself.

a pound off on the fiberglass..

Ch4r1ie, do you know how much prep work is needed for these? I imagine it would be more for the carbon version.

What do you mean "a pound off on the fiberglass"?

Sorry, I couldn't tell you mate. I rattle canned my CF version matte black as a temporary solution until I have the whole car re-sprayed. The rattle canning took very little prep work if that helps :beerdrink:

I think it's 15-16lbs for the carbon and 25-26lbs for fiberglass.

I meant that I was a pound off on the weight of the fiberglass.. going off memory.

hahaha, nice! I think I recall Paul saying that the vents were hand cut and needed prep work, but I don't know if that was for both styles or just the carbon. How was yours?
