Selling Stang: Ford Truck or Ram? and Why?

I'm selling the stang because I'm quite sick of the vehicle. I've owned numerous sports cars and I'd have to say that the Mustang has been my least favorite. I purchased it because I think the 2011+ are beautiful cars and very powerful; however, the craftsmanship of the overall vehicle is not on par with that of GM, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Dodge IMO

When I received the vehicle new it was completely out of alignment. They ended up having to install new cam bolts per TSB, which signifies to me that they sent many of these cars off the line out of alignment.

At 4,870 miles my engine ceased up while cruising at about 45 mph. It took almost a month for them to replace the entire engine. They told me the vehicle ran out of oil. I'd checked it about 700 miles previously and it was within the operating specs. I was told, that the 5.0 tends to burn a lot of oil, which according to ford is normal for "sports cars."

When my vette went low on oil once on the track, and I received a notification of these on the info system. Filled it up and never had problem. There was not warning from Ford's info system.

Mitsubishi evo never burned any oil and it had a larger turbo and 400 whp.

Later, thanks to this forum and few others, I found out that the 5.0 pushes a huge majority of it's oil out through the PVC valves. I'm 99% sure that's what happened to mine. And actually, my entire intake was covered in oil where the tube enters just before the throttle body.

The Microsoft sync does not work in my car, I can't understand anyone and they can't understand me. It's a waste of a system. GMC's setup is absolutely amazing.

My right door was mounted wrong from the factory and does not line up correctly. I took it in and they tried fixing it, but it's still just as bad. I don't think they even did anything. Ha ha. They probably charged for for the work though. ha ha

The bumpers are now discolored from the rest of vehicle. They were fine initially, but after 10,000 miles the paint is bleaching.

Ok! Those are some of my largest gripes. I know many of you love your Fords and I'm not trying to say Ford sucks or anything, I think i've just had a bad experience with the mustang.

Anyways....

I'm going to buy a new truck. I like the Ford and the Dodge so far. I'm leaning towards the Dodge because it's much cheaper for the high end truck, and it looks amazing. I'm worried that if I get the ford, I will run into the same troubles as the mustang. Which do you guys think is better to go with, the Ford or Dodge? Why? What's more powerful, reliable.
Please share some real world stories if you have them.

Based on your post it probably doesn't matter what anybody here says, you'll buy the Dodge. I hope it serves you well.

No real world experience on the Ford trucks, but I can say my son's 2011 Dodge Ram is one of the biggest POS on the road.
Trucks been in the shop almost as long as it's been on the road.
rear end problems
active fuel management problems
among other things I really can't remember off the top of my head.
He's looking to get rid of it ASAP, only problem he's having right now, in 2 years trade in value dropped to about half.(bought the truck for just over 40K trade in on it right now is 24K) truck has 19K miles on it.

I agree with skwerl, that being said the Ford would probably hold a higher resell value. But again, Enjoy the new Dodge! lol

edit: treed by Kenneth-- pretty muched confirmed my resell value point.

Sounds like you had a bad experience and are jumping ship. Every car is gonna have some type of issues,it is what it is. Ive had 11 Fords and 5 were Mustangs so far. If I had a turd of a Mustang like you had I would sell or trade it for another not jump ship......but hey, thats just me.

Sounds like you got a lemon dude...........that sucks. My 06 Mustang has been flawless. I race the sh*t out it too and she just keeps rocking on. I also have a 2004 srt/10 truck. Its awesome too. Oil pressure gauge went out but was replaced under warranty. I had 2003 hemi truck which I sold when I bought the srt but the guy whom bought it says its still going strong 9 years later with no issues. My buddy has an 04 dodge 2500 with 125k and no major issues.

You probably will be happy with either, so buy the one that fits your needs and budget. I really like the new Rams. The fords do seem to be priced so much higher....dont know why.

I had a 09 ram and loved it, only issue was the fuel saver mode always kicked in an fucked gearing up hardcore. The transmission would like stumble when it did, but apparently from '10 on its not a problem. But I loved that truck.

You are crazy if you think the interior from 2010+ Mustangs is cheaper than Dodge, Nissan and Mitsubishi. Dodge is the ugliest of all

Thanks everyone for your inputs so far! I appreciate it. Well the resale is a big deal for me. It seems like I only keep them around for about 3 years! ha ha. Yes, I am slightly turned away from the f-150 because of my experience with Ford products so far. But there must be a reason they hold their resale value.

I grew up on a farm. We have had a lot of GM's Dodges and Fords. Older trucks (90's to early 2000's) but the Ford's always held up mechanically way better, but their interior plastic junk fell apart. However, it seems that Dodge has really upped their quality lately. Our last manager was a die hard Ford fanatic and said, he'd buy a new 1500 dodge. So i guess that means something. ha ha.

The only issue I've had was the keypad needed to be replaced...I've logged
17k miles, and according to NADA, (which we all know is bull) the retail price of my truck is as good as it was 2 years ago when I bought it...Just checked it....

Why not consider a silverado or GMC then? I have an 02 silverado and (flame shield on) but it's probably been the toughest/best truck I've owned.

dodge means to avoid.

Awesome! lol

i had a 2011 5.3 and while it was nice, the sheetmetal on the new Chevy's is so horrible. I leaned up against the bed and I bent it! And the hood flexes and bounces around after 80 mph, and i have to push to top back up anytime i uses and automatic carwash that uses blowers. Chevy has built their new trucks cheap!
