Anyone use this product? A buddy of mine is the detailer for a BMW dealership and thats the only sealant that they use and he swears by it. If you have used it what did you think of it compared to say Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 or other high quality sealant.

Seems like one of the many, many ways BMW dealerships come up with to rip off customers.

I did a quick Googling, and apparently it's "only available to dealerships." I have NEVER seen a dealership with a competent detailer on staff.

That's a major red flag to me. If it's a good product, why not try to sell as much of it as possible? Or is it because they realize that if someone did a head-to-head comparison with any of the other major sealants out there, Cilajet would be found to be equal at best?

Bottom line, you can sell those douchey, brand-whoring BMW owners anything, so long as you convince them it's "exclusive." YMMV.

EDIT: Just read online that some BMW stealerships charge $1000 for an application of this stuff. $1k for a wash, strip, clay, seal? LMFAO.

Would you like our teflon coating option to protect your paint for only $899?

I agree it's a total rip off and I almost laughed when I found out it cost around 800€. I can get enough to seal my car but didn't want to waste my time using it if does not last. Plus you have to apply it then let the car sit overnight for it to "cure" or flash before taking it off.

Having just watched Fargo again the other night, the opening scene with Jerry Lundegaard trying to sell TrueCoat came to mind.

I watched it the other night too and thought the exact same thing when I read the first post. That film is a classic.

Total rip off. It's essentially an epoxy sealant. It will last longer than a polymer/synthetic sealant though.

If you want a long lasting protection, look at products like Opti-Coat 2.0 or 22ple. They have proven track records of lasting about 2-3 years. For about $70. This is just marked up like crazy by the dealers.

Or if you're a pro order Opti-Guard. It'll work out better and way less money.

Sweet. That was the kind of answer I was looking for. I ordered Opti-coat a few days ago.
