nope turbo you want them lower to " load " the turbo a taller gear doesn't place as much as the shorter 1's now on a centri i would think the higher the better but 05stroker would have to answer that 1

and dex beat me to it while i was typing lol

Lower gear ratio number (e.g. 3.55) = high gear ratio
Higher gear ratio number (e.g. 4.10) = low gear ratio

I love my 4.56's

I love my 4.56's :snoopy
BUT, I do plan on going turbo, and w/ my TR6060 gearing will go with a 3.73 or 3.90.

Again, unless your getting the turbo next month... get some fun gears and enjoy your damn car...

it is just a damn car.... drive it!

Dont save it... someone will steal it, wreck it...

That makes sense about loading the turbo. I guess with a shorter gear such as 4.10s, the turbo wouldn't have time to spool.

can you even feel the difference between 3.73's and 3.31's? Ive never been in an s197 Auto with 3.73s.

I have 3.73s with the Saleen SC and it is perfect; can feel a big difference between the 3.31s and the 3.73s. That little 0.42 increase adds about 160ft-lbs of torque to the rear wheels . I have the 18" tires on mine too.

BTW, Doc has driven my car and he liked it.

I'd do 3.73s if you plan on using a TS SC. If you do anything else, go 4.10s.

Hope this helps.

In my car when it was at 500rw I had 3.73 and went to 4.10 and my time and speed slowed in the 1/4. Here is what I have learned . The 4.10 is to much for an auto with lets say over 400rw to 450rw . I have 3.73 in the car now with a 28" tire and am thinking of switching to a 3.55 to get were I want the car to trap rpm on my 700/700 race tune . All that being said the 4.10 was very fun on the street but lots of tire spin in 1st and hard tire blowout getting into 2nd . IMO 4.10 are to much for an auto car .
To the OP how much power are you makeing?

Exactly what I said. Gears multiply engine torque to the wheels.

If the engine outputs 300ft-lbs of torque a 4.00 gear ratio will put 1200ft-lbs to the wheels. So that 0.42 I mentioned with my will take the 380ft-lbs that my engine produces and add an extra 160ft-lbs to the wheels.

It is plain old mechanical advantage. Like a lever with a 50ft pole. The only draw back to a lever like that is reaching the handle and pulling on it! Likewise, the drawback with a larger gear number (lower gear ratio) is that the engine rpm comes up quicker and maxes out sooner than a taller gear.

No schitt!

Im pretty sure Enrique has 4.10's for sale, unless MMP has them at the shop. Either way you can come across a set cheap.

One thing (I might have missed since I didnt read the entire thread) is ONLY BUY FRPP GEARS!!!!!!!

I have a set for sale cheap you could try but like I said the 4.10 will be to much for the auto thus the reason mine have been in the attic for ever and now for sale.

Thats why I would never go 4.30's. FRPP doesnt make anything over a 4.10...... I dont like my rear to wine.
