How well do these cars hang with the LSX powered vehicles?

You are fucking stoned if you think an Fbody looks better than an s197.

Meh, different strokes for different folks. The fact that you are generalizing the Fbody indicates that you are a Ford nutswinger and would hate it just because it comes from GM. While similar cars, Camaros and Firebirds and Trans Ams all look different. I love the look, however I got tired of the brutal suspension and sub par interior, which is why I'm here looking for a 3v. Plus I can agree with one thing said earlier in this thread, I've always loved the way Mustangs sound

No, no they all pretty much look the same.
It's like putting lipstick on a pig, still a pig.
The last few years of those cars are downright Fugly.
I'll give respect where respect is due, none to give to those later years.

The rear end tends to break in those cars when you are in the mid 400 hp range.

no, they'll break at stock power levels too. my 02 TA rear end was howling like a madman when i traded it in. car was 100% bone stock.

gears, intake, tune should get you about even with a stock ls1/2.

If they have those mods, you lose.

How are you comparing a $35k car to a ~$10k car? Spend half of the price difference in a ls1 then come back and tell me when you lose to a bone stock 5.0... The rear end tends to break in those cars when you are in the mid 400 hp range. I don't know who told you ls1 owners are too scared to run sticky tires...

It's as simple as this. Mustangs are sexy as hell, sounds sexy, and drives sexy. F-bodies are ugly, ride like crap, feel like crap, and are hard to work on. I drove a 02 trans am while my car was in the body shop, and the lower end power on the trans am was ridiculous compared to my 3v.

LOLZ. You can get a brand new 2013 5.0 for Mid $20k. You can't compare the price of an F-Body to a new Mustang. They are two different cars made 10+ years apart. There is no comparison. I could buy a Fox body Mustang for $1,000 and put an $9,000 drivetrain in it and walk either one of them. Does that mean I can compare it to a new 5.0 based on price?

Alright guy, well...I was going to give you an explanation but I'm not going to. You join here and argue that I'M a nutswinger, yet you have joined a mustang forum and even your screen name mentions your old shitbucket. So, 'my95z28' you can suck a cock.

I think he's trollin'. Classic symptoms.

1.) no mustang
2.) screen name refs "other brand"
3.) low post count
4.) likes to argue in support of "other brand"
5.) has naked pics of little boys in "other brand" cars
6.) likes to exaggerate comparisons

To many to list really. He just needs a pink screen name and it will be textbook.

Nope no troll here just new to the forum looking to get into a Mustang. Question was asked about GM LS based cars and I have been in that world for the past 4 years or so. Thought I would share a bit of knowledge but looks like some of you can't stand it if anything negative is said about a Mustang.

When i had my car it had CAI, LT headers, O/R x, tune, 3:90 gears and crappy 275/40-18 street tires. My buddy had an 02 T/A WS6 with 3:73 gears, SLP intake, Fast intake manifold, ZO6 cam, LT headers, O/R mid pipe, an awesome drag suspinsion. and some nitto 555R's. We would always be dead even till about 75 then he would start to pull away. We lines up at the track and we damn near dead even the whole way. he ran a 8.29 and i wan a 8.31. it was an 1/8th if it had been a 1/4 he would of beat me by more.

Dude, there is no way my friends or I would ever think that the Mustang is perfect, unbeatable, that we know everything there is to know or get but hurt over the cars flaws. So you can stop implying we are arrogant.

With that said, we love these cars, own them, enjoy them, openly and gladly support anyone who wants to enjoy them as well. That's what clubs do.

Now, if you come in and start putting out negative vibes to instigate, not educate and basically go against the whole sentiment I mentioned above... you sir are a TROLL.

I would make an educated respone to this but I think at this point its a lost cause. :thumb: Roger, I'll reign it in a bit

THe first car i fell in love with was a 1995 trans am when i was younger. My uncle had one when it was brand new and i wanted one so bad. Never got one. Then i got back into muscle car scene and started looking for one. The lt1 didnt seem worth it. Then looked into ls1's. Test drove a bunch.

Then test drove a bunch of mustangs. Mach 1's, 3v's. 2v's. Fell in love with the 3v and the aftermarket support it had so i went with that. Just wanted something to play with is all.

id still like to have a low mileage ws6 someday to play with since its kinda where my roots started.

I always like the ws6. The black coupe reminds me of a vette. Low miles is rear in any early model car though.

Just as some Free info.

Probably not the best idea to be a Member on a Ford Mustang Site and yet have your old or maybe still, (my95z28).

Think about it if I were to go over on a Camaro only Internet Site and post I am interested in a New Camaro and then post all about my Mustang.

Trust me they would not see anything but RED in their eyes immediately.

The reason being their (Camaro Owners).
And their thoughts as well as the Mustang Guys here on S197
would think if you want to talk about how great they are why are you over on this site, (Camaro or Mustang owners).

Just the way it is .........

And in case you might be thinking I am some kind of Mustang only owner.
You would be wrong as I have also had a lot of the GM cars.
Including the Camaro.

That's the funny part. I guess he doesn't realize that we are "Car Guys" and some of us either have owned or do currently own some other cool cars... it's just that this is a Mustang forum for a specific gen Mustang.

Oh well... I appreciate your effort Terry, but this one might be a lost cause. We'll have to see if he comes around like he said he would our not. I hope so. I can use all the friends I can get... even internet friends. :thumb2:

I used to have a 2000 Firebird Formula before my Mustang. With just a tune, gears and CAI it went 12.9X @ 109. It was a manual car.

After I did headers, cam and LS6 heads, 12 bolt rearend and various other supporting mods it made just over 400 to the tires and ran 11.7X @ 120 pulling the stock 245 front tires on the launch.

I've never owned a 3V mustang, so take that F-body info for what it is worth. My car was pretty typical for what runs around here.

Here's a pic of the door stop doing work
