How well do these cars hang with the LSX powered vehicles?

When i had my car it had CAI, LT headers, O/R x, tune, 3:90 gears and crappy 275/40-18 street tires. My buddy had an 02 T/A WS6 with 3:73 gears, SLP intake, Fast intake manifold, ZO6 cam, LT headers, O/R mid pipe, an awesome drag suspinsion. and some nitto 555R's. We would always be dead even till about 75 then he would start to pull away. We lines up at the track and we damn near dead even the whole way. he ran a 8.29 and i wan a 8.31. it was an 1/8th if it had been a 1/4 he would of beat me by more.

Bull shit. Your friend needs to learn how to drive if that's the case. I wasn't able to keep up with a ls2 full exhaust trans am at the track. he was running mid 12's all day. Now you're saying your buddy with a fast intake, small cam, full exhaust, drag suspension, and gears was dead even with a full exhaust 3v on street tires? His car should be running low 12's and you're probably running high 12's. what's your 60 foot?

LOLZ. You can get a brand new 2013 5.0 for Mid $20k. You can't compare the price of an F-Body to a new Mustang. They are two different cars made 10+ years apart. There is no comparison. I could buy a Fox body Mustang for $1,000 and put an $9,000 drivetrain in it and walk either one of them. Does that mean I can compare it to a new 5.0 based on price?

I see what you're trying to say, but I wasn't the one comparing a f body to a 5.0 ;)

Look, like them or not LSx stuff is legit and runs very well with light mods. When the LS1 came out in '98 it really put a big hurting on the 2V Mustang of the same year. LSx stuff performs very well and should be respected for what it can do, even if you don't like it.

That said...I think that GM lovers have WAY over hyped them over the years. The stuff I read on forums from delusional GM owners blows my mind sometimes.

On the flip side, I think that 3Vs are way UNDER rated, as most owners bought them, slapped scoops/louvers/grills/big wheels/other crap on them along with a non-tuned for CAI and proceeded to run 15s. It makes it nice to have a relatively quick 3V, as EVERYONE underestimates it. :D

We're not fucking doubting power here, it's a 5.7 it better run some pretty good times. Yeah they respond extremely well to mods and with H/C/I they can be beasts. They are still ugly, still the highlight of the trailer park, and it would be a cold day in hell when I choose an Fbody over an 05+ Mustang GT.

Actually, the OP's original question was how they run compared to a S197. I offered dragstrip information on what my previous car ran for use as comparison to some of the 3V owners on here.

I'm not going to argue about looks, because that is merely personal preference of which everybody's is different. Yeah they rattle and have weak rears and the window motors suck. That is a fact, but that wasn't the OP's original question.

I'm a car guy not a "Ford guy", or "GM guy" or anything else. I also feel that if you limit yourself to only driving one brand's vehicles you are really only hurting yourself. I'm not talking about the people who hate on vehicles they have had or driven in the past. They have a legitimate point. I'm talking about people that hate on vehicles simply because of what they have heard and have never actually driven one.

I drive a 1999 Miata as my daily driver, and say what you may about "chicks car" "gay car" or whatever, but drive one and you might change your mind. They are street legal go-karts.

Read the original post. He says he's talking about the 4.6, im tired of this stupid ass thread and the stupidity that keeps popping up.

Actually, the whole thread is kinda pointless.

I mean, there is near 10 years of engineering differences and the LS1 has almost 24% more displacement than a 4.6. Shit, we are even talking push rod vs OHC...

I thought the thread was for giggles, not a real comparison. There is no comparison. You might as well be comparing a 67 427 Corvette to a 2013 Kia Soul. Apples and oranges.

With intake, canned tune, 4.10, and heavy 18x10 boat anchors plus 28" tires. I trapped 100 and the stock auto LS1 vette 102.
