Is there more than one restrictor that you guys have to run with? If not how does. The intake restrictor cause the car to overheat? Not trying to be a dick I'm just curious is all.

All of the press releases on the Mid Ohio protest state that the restrictor fools the MAF sensor's air flow and air temp readings going to the ECU causing it to lean out and overheat. Since they can't tune the car they risk damage every race with that size restrictor on the car.

EDIT: Just finished watching the Road Atlanta CTSCC race. Seems like some pretty crappy driving being done by other drivers in the series. A lot of avoidable contact made by bone head moves but I'm glad that Rehagen was not among the casualty list and had some good driving going on before the race ended under caution. Good luck at your next race and I can't wait to watch it!

As I understand it, by running inlet restrictors but not allowing tuning the engine is running on less air with the same fuel and timing tables as stock. With the timing advanced too far for the a/f mixture, the fuel will ignite before the piston reaches top dead center. This creates excessive combustion pressure that the rotating assembly has to work against. That also creates excessive heat as well as puts more stress on the internals which was probably causing them to fail in World Challenge.

From some of the BMW Club racer friends of mine that I know, you'd be surprised by the "driving talent" level some of these guys. It really isn't all that deep, some of the teams all you need is a deep pocket...

Yeah, I've deleted several of my responses to this because there isn't anyway to say it politely... Horrible driving by a select few at Road Atlanta and I get that it is a narrow track but the passes that took out several cars in the race where just bonehead moves.

It's great that Grand-Am has full races on their site. They usually don't end up there until a few weeks after the race is done, but it works out well for those of us who don't get these races on TV!

It really is! I don't have Speed anymore since switch to Dish but its not too bad as long as I'm patient. I do like having the race on while I'm in the garage working though...
