I'm looking at installing a roll bar. My biggest concern is that I like to sit all the way back. I like the Maximum Motorsport street 6 point roll bar a lot, but like most roll bars, the bar seems to be to close to the seat. I know when I sat in Dysan car, my knees where slammed against the dash because I could not put the seat all the way back. Whoever does a lot of driving on the street with a roll bar, I'd like your opinion please. What brand do you have? Is it bolt in or welded? Can you put your seat all the way back?

I have max motorsports 6pt welded bar. The fittment was great. The electric seat goes all the way back. I have it slightly reclined but it will not recline all the way. I have a shorter friend and he cannot put the seat all the way forward cause the lumbar button hits. Its a bit of a climb in and out if you are a large person with the side bars in. I do not have swing outs, just removable side bars.
I hope this helps you guys.

That's good to know. I usually have my seat all the way back and reclined a few clicks. Not gangsta style reclined, but not all the way up. MM doesn't make swing out bars correct? When your seat is all the way back and slightly reclined, can you feel the bar in your back? Also, how tall are you? What do you weight? And do you like taking long walks on the beach? LOL

Yes I like walks on the beach but not with dudes, Sorry.
5'8" 175 lbs Seat does not hit the bar when its all the way back the way I have it set up.
If you would like to try it, (sitting in car not beach walking) I could meat you at ETown sometime

I'm thinking removable side bars would be more desirable than swingouts seeing as how they would be removed 99% of the time anyway. I would keep them in the trunk and only install them at the track. I wouldn't want to have swingouts and have to mess with them every single time I got in or out of the car.

They bolt in and out in 5 minutes

(addressed to 555)- I'm assuming 'swingouts' mean that the side bars stay attached but release at one end and 'swing out' so you can get in and out of the car. I'm agreeing that the removable side bars (which can be bolted in place in a few minutes) would likely be preferable so you could leave them removed most of the time.

Call Wolfe Racecraft, they have an option to make a cross bar, for their roll bar, that will allow full rearward seat travel. Wolfe is the best mail order roll bar out there. If I ever put a roll bar in mine their's is the bar I will use.

I had a custom bar installed into my car for the very reasons the OP stated. My rear bar is curved back to allow for the motion of the seats. I can slide my seat all the way back, and recline it a fair amount. We put my seat in the position I sit, and bent the bar around it. I also had swing outs that are held in with quick release pins.

IMHO, if you plan on keeping the car do a custom bar exactly how you want it.

This is what I did in my 06.

Always the two of us with the same thought. I was just sent some pictures of a friends install of the Wolfe Roll bar and was very impressed. The rear bars go to the trunk in lieu of cutting the side panels like MM's. Pricing is about the same unless you want Chromoly and its 20lbs lighter.

Wolfe offers a kicked back back bar that I didn't know about until after I got my bar. That is all you need to ask for...I think you can get it up to 4" kicked back which should be what you are looking for. S&W can also make you a bar and if you want to go that route you can just stop by my friend's shop who built my engine and installed my bar...He is right in Williamstown about 1.5 miles from my house. You can look him up, Everett's Specialty Repair, 39 Saybrook Ave, Williamstown, NJ 08094 (856) 629-2660

Wolfe is great, they make both a weld in and a bolt in version of the bar, in mild steel and chrome molly. You can also upgrade it to a full cage at a later date.
