no burnout - am I leaving ET on the table?

05 gt, running 17" M/T ET street bias ply tires. I drive around the water box and only do a short spin to clean off the tires.

How much (if any) ET am I leaving on the table by not heating up the tires?

IMO, you're leaving .2 -.3 minimum ET

You should be able to 60' in the 1.5-1.65 area


Why would u run a drag tire and not heat them? Sense it makes none.

why not heat the tire? I've been to the 1/4 mile two times (9 total runs). Not sure in my ability to do a proper burnout and didn't want to be that guy.

18psi in the rears (36psi in the OEM fronts).

My first trip to the 1/4 was at MIR in mid August, and I had the rear tires set to 18psi, rear shocks +6, and front struts +6 (forgot to adjust the fronts after the drive to the track). Temp was low 70's, DA was ~900' Ran a 12.814 @ 106.36, w/1.75 60'

When I went to Mason Dixon (vids posted above, pic below) the only change I made was to set the fronts to full loose (everything I've read said to change only one thing at a time). I'm guessing the prep at Mason Dixon wasn't as good as MIR because I was spinning a bit (as you can tell in the MIR pic above I hooked pretty well). Temps at Mason Dixon were mid low 60's, DA varied between 200'-700' throughout the morning.

I'm debating what to experiment with for my next run. Drop 1-2psi in the rear tires and leave the rear shocks alone, or leave them at 18psi and soften the rear shocks up a few clicks. Well, that and I plan to attempt a burnout too.

thanks, I think I'll try front struts at full loose, rear shocks at +6 and rear tires at 15psi. Added a few pics above too, hopefully they give context to my runs at MIR and Mason Dixon.

new PB today at the MIR track rental:

12.425 @ 108.93, w/1.67 60'. backed it up with a 12.463 @ 108.68, 1.69 60'

Temps ranged from 59-65deg, with DA range of 76-465ft as the day progressed (per dragtimes weather info/calculator).

-weight with driver/gear 3660 lbs
-front struts set to full loose
-rear shocks set to +4 clicks
-rear tires @ 18psi
-launching at around 5000rpm
-still no burnout, just a quick spin to clean the tires

Nice NPB! I still think there's some ET in dropping the tire pressure a pound or two and doing a proper burnout. It could get you down in the 12.20s under the same conditions.
