Lowered guys - Do you cut your rear bumpstops?

I am going to order some of the Eibachs, which are manufactured lower (and designed for lowered cars already). I want to do so to compare the compound to OEM and see if it is identical (or perhaps it has a different rate) - some have reported the Eibach compound is softer.

Like this:

Notice the hole in the middle on the Eibachs (Factory-molded 908SSP technique):

Eibach P/N is bs45001617 - Summit has them, and Pep boys *may* carry them.

So I ordered a set of the part number above and surprisingly all I got was the bumper...no mounting plate. Is this right?

I assumed I was getting a bumper with plate.

How is the stock bumper attached to the mounting plate?

The plates are bolted the axle and the bump stops are just friction fit into the plate. They have a little lip that holds them in place.

I cut the 2 ribs off my stock ones and guess what, they have a hole in the middle just like the Eibach one and they're about 3/8" shorter from your pics there.

I cut one down to one rib and still hit the stops, have about 1/2 inch of travel. I am on Koni sport on about half and on sportlines. Going to have to another rib in order to have more travel.

I just installed the Eibach bump stops. I should have taken pictures!!!! DAMN IT!!

But my OEM bump stops did not look like the picture above!!
They had the same thick base, but only one nipple.

As it stands, the Eibach and my OEMs are practically the same height. Eibachs version are slightly shorter, maybe 1/8th inch shorter. The material is softer though.

I do feel an improvement in the rear. But I only have two fingers (pointer and middle) worth of travel before I hit the stops.

I think I may have to trim some more... I am thinking ROUSH had replaced the bump stops. I think I would have been better off...as painful as it sounds...cutting off the nipple just leaving the thick base.

Where did you buy them from?

Just went on a short drive and wow! Idk if its the placebo affect but it feels like a completely different car! After I lowered it the ride quality disappeared! It actually feels almost as smooth as it did before I lowered it!
I was definitely hitting them too because there was a clear rub spot on the body!

Paint over that spot with some plasti dip so you can easily see if if still hits. And yes it makes a big difference. It's not imagined.

Im running the complete Pro Damper setup on Sportlines
Same bump stops (Short)

last time on the lift, after the turbo build, we noticed the stops hitting and leaving a mark on the frame.

I assume its ok to trim them down a little more?

I was under the car last night and my 3" over axle exhaust is all banged to shit from cutting the bump stops. I think if I had to do it over I would have just cut off the nipple rather than cutting them in half like I did. The other reason is when I do bottom out, it hits hard, with a bang. I'm going to have to stop running the rear shocks on soft. It's cool on the free way but too often I say screw the traffic and take the fun way home.

I have the same issue with my stock diameter pipe. The hard hit is your exhaust. I chased my suspension clunk/thud for days and weeks until I finally figured out my axle was hitting the axle over pipe.

Now I am looking for alternative exhaust routings. sigh

Same here! I have Borla cat-back pipes and they've been bent with less clearance over the axle. I've cut my bumpstops to the solid base and they smack pretty good on bigger bumps.

Side exit exhaust seems to be the only route :(
