No SVO, the new 2.3L Ecoboost is designed specifically for the Mustang and will benefit from direct injection, twin independent variable cam timing, and a twin-scroll turbo to reduce lag. It sports a steel crank and trick 3-port cylinder head to deliver power and projected best-in-class economy. It will deliver more than 305hp and 300-plus lb-ft. This will breathe new life into an untapped Mustang segment, as we expect the aftermarket to run rampant with tunes and components to push for maximum power and performance.

Returning is the potent 3.7L V-6, but with more power. “It will be worthy of the Mustang badge,” said Dave Pericak, Ford Mustang chief engineer. But the big gun remains to be the popular Coyote 5.0L, and you can expect more power thanks to enhanced breathing. Ford incorporated larger valves and cams, and revised heads with improved port design. Strength will come from Sintered-iron forged Boss-like 302 rods and springs, so we’re anticipating a high redline, upwards of 7,500rpm. The 5.0L will also sport a new intake (we’re guessing lower profile) with charge motion-control valves to improve stability at idle and mid-range throttle response.
According to Ford, “the variable cam timing on the intake side has a greater range of adjustment thanks to mid-lock phasers. This enables better optimized control of the valve timing over a broader range of engine speeds and loads for improved fuel economy and emissions.” The 5.0L Coyote also gets redesigned piston tops, and a balanced forged crank.

I'm more confident now that we'll be seeing a legit 450hp. Look at the camshaft specs, 1mm intake and 2mm exhaust. That is larger than the BOSS 302 cams lift wise. It also sounds like a very BOSS302 like intake manifold now, with charge plates to help increase torque vs the BOSS manifold. Then you have the BOSS valve springs AND larger valves. It is going to have to be a very conservative tune to hit below 450.

This is of course going to bring comparisons to the C7 instead of the Camaro. Actually the Mustang is going to have a very similar power to weight ratio to the C7 if a GT has a 3400lb curb weight (based on the 200lb weight loss claims) if the new coyote does have 450hp. It will be down on torque by probably 40-50ft/lbs.

Exactly why I said no less than...

And come on, we all know Ford has been using a very conservative tune on the 5.0 since it was released, they'll continue to do so. They don't want to jump into a head to head battle with the C7.

Just looked at the pics of the '15. Looks like the value of my car just went up. What an ugly display that just destroys the heritage of the Mustang. Huge fucking disappointment. Dislike the entire thing, exterior to the interior to the fugly taillights.

I'm afraid, in a good way, that the bar might be raised that high. The only real advantage the Camaro has had over the Mustang in the last gen was the IRS and we now have that an a brand new front suspension plus even less weight and more power. I just want to know when I can order one. I've decided I am going to give into the wife's ask for a minivan and a new Mustang is going to be my condition for her getting a minivan!

Pretty sure the same thing was said in 1992 and 1999 and this too shall pass.

370z profile, swiss cheese dash, and the front fascia looks like an after thought. Not a fan yet. I'm sorry I like America and American looking cars.

It's like a wreck, you just cannot stop looking, hoping that you see really didn't happen.

Just got back from Dearborn at the reveal... the car looks SOOO much better in person, I cannot even explain it. I'm not even going to try and convince those of you that don't like it, because frankly I don't care if you don't lol. The rear end (in my humble opinion) has some influence from an Audi A7 and Porsche, as it's not anywhere near the 'flat' butt of an S197. The roof line is fantastic, and the proportions with the long hood line are beautiful. I'm on the fence about the dash/center stack area, but it's growing on me. Just reserve your judgment until you see it in person... Not that you need any more photos, but here are two quickies I took this morning.

Loving the fact that the auto finally has a decent looking shifter.

On the interior though, by the door lock buttons, what is the 1 2 3 for?

So since you can now get a "better than previous years Boss motor" AND all the new fandangled stuff in a plain vanilla GT, what's that gonna do for the value of '11-13 Boss'???? R.I.P .........plummet.....

If the BOSS's become collectors cars in the future, it won't be because of the engine, but because of the BOSS name. The issue with the new gen BOSS vs the originals are that the new gen doesn't really have the racing history associated with it that the originals did. I think they will have value in the future, but nothing like a 69 or 70 BOSS 302 does today.

I think this looks badass.

Just as good as the 13/14 models.

Still a lot of speculation on the engine types, but, they are saying the GT will have 450+ HP, and there will be an N/A SVT model with over 500 HP later on.

Going to be listing my 3V for sale pretty soon and try to trade in evenly for a 2015.

Competition Orange /Thread.
