I'm about to pull the trigger on a skinny drag setup and came up with a question, how do you determine what tire will fit.

I have BMR lowering springs up front

I'm currently running 255/35R20s.

When I measure 27"s it falls somewhere between the top of my tire and wheelwell. 28" takes me just into my fender.

Am I measuring this right? I know others have done this with lower springs than mine.

How tall are your current tires and how much ground clearance do you have? My reason for wanting a taller tire is to keep from scraping on my trailer, for the most part. Unless your car is really slammed then fender clearance shouldn't be an issue.

They come in just under 27". I was curious if somehow the car would raise with the bigger sidewall and smaller wheel.

The reason for this question was to see if the new. Mickey Thompson would fit or should I stick with the M&H.

I plan to run 17" wheels up front.

As an aside, will 325s fit on a 10" wheel?

First you need to figure out if you're going with radials or bias ply, then see what sizes are available. Rear size will be determined by your gearing and trap speed. Are you auto or manual? What rear gears? What is your power level?

Weld rt-s 17x4.7 with m&h racemaster 28x4.5x17 bi ply tire is 27 tall. 27 1/2 to fender on bmr springs and strange struts gt500 strut mount. On 11 gt tires are inside edge of fender so there plenty of clearance

That's a sharp looking machine!

I have yet to see anyone with the new Weld wheels they came out with in December. I really like the S76.

Bogarts were my first choice. Thems sweet wheels. Didnt have the coin for those and was worried about bending the fronts on the street

no. if you get a tire that is 1 inch taller it will lift the front half an inch and fill the gap half an inch.

Yah its popular because people cant easily fit a 15 up front. But they would if they could. To me it looks funny. But whatev. Just one person's opinion. ;)

26x11.5-15 Hoosier QTP in the rear, 165/80-15 radials in the front.

I always thought 17's in the front looked weird with 15's in the back.
Setup runs real good on the track and the ride to and from the track.
Had to grind a little caliper to get the fronts to clear with a 3/8 spacer.
