I recent bought 20x8.5 and 20x10 wheels for my car.
I currently have 20x9.5 and 20x11 with 275/35 and 315/35. One 315/35 tire is toast. Tread on other 3 tires is 50% I think ( Continental DWSs with DW still clear).
Current idea is reusing the 275/35 on the 20x10 rear and buying new 255/35 for the 20x8.5 fronts. I think this will look ok. Problem is the only sizes for DWS larger than that is 285/30 and 295/40 available. The 285 is too short and the 295 is too tall (29.3" or 744mm). So I have an issue....
275/35 is 27.6" tall (700mm) =Anyone
255/35 is 27" tall (686mm) =Anyone
285/30 is 26.8" tall (680mm) =DWSs
295/30 is 27" tall (686mm) =TOYOs
From my understanding the ideal tire for the front is 255/35. This is produced by anyone. The wider tires are the issue when it comes to selection. I'm usually a stickler for keep the same brand/model tire on all four.
Ideal would be a 255/35 fronts and 295/30 rears have identicial tire heights but wider tread (contact patch). Toyo Proxes 4 seem to be the best bet for my purposes and budget (Comparable to DWSs)
However swapping to Proxes 4s would be having to buy all 4 tires at once and wasting my DWSs.
Would you run Proxes 4s up front and get the rest of the miles out of the DWSs on the rear; then when the time comes put 295/30 Proxes 4 on the rear?
Would you run all DWSs, then when rears need a change, put on DWS 285/30s on the rear and deal with the rears being 6mms shorter than the fronts?
Maybe I'm thinking too much on this just new 255/35 DWSs and be happy. Like hear some opinions....
