Or perhaps a rolling burnout isn't a bright idea? Judging by the speed and rear wheel spin, I'm guessing this was a 2nd gear peel. Why the hell would you want 80mph worth of tire spin at that rate of travel? Even if you lift, as you gain traction your rate of travel is going to increase and create further complication. Lifting is great when wheel spin is fairly close to your rate of travel. Generally as long as you don't panic and try to over-correct the car will stabilize itself.

Kind of drifting 101 here. If you have a 20mph corner, you don't try to drift it at the top of 4th. If you're going to roast tires, you don't do an 80mph burnout while rolling 30mph. It never works out, too much inertia at play. What a waste.

Note to self: avoid side impacts at all cost... lol. If there had been someone in that passenger seat, they'd be splatter. #airbagfail #gotrecall?

It sounds like he went to 2nd in the video. I talked to some of the guys that were there and they thought he did as well. Really stupid move, ruined the day for a lot of people and trashed a nice car. The truck had a temporary tag on it, poor guy's new ride all jacked up now.

What's with the side impact crushing like it did? Isn't there supposed to be side support in the event of a t-bone?
I t-boned a civic @ 35mph and didn't a fraction as much damage as that Shelby took.
Is it a matter of inertia more than anything?
