Everyone ring in on what I should buy

Ok, here's the deal, any car I have is going to be a garage queen. I am one of those guys that have a company car for work and so any car I own just doesn't get driven. Right now I have my 2006 GT and it is nearly perfect and has all of 7,800 miles on it. It sits on a battery tender in a heated garage all winter and doesn't even see rain as it is for weekends only.

Since that scenario isn't going to change I think I would like something that is a bit rare, but still reasonable in cost. My thoughts are if I buy a low mileage it will stay that way and maybe not lose too much. To me cars are not investments, if the wheels go round the value goes down. I just don't want to spend $40k on something and three years later it's worth $20k and has an additional 3,500 miles on it.

Here is what I want an opinion on, what would hold on better, a 2012-2013 Boss 302 or a 2011-2012 GT500. The reason I didn't include the 2013-2014 GT500 is they are going to be too much money, the previous cars listed are close in price. I want a 2011-12 GT500 to get the aluminum motor instead of the iron block earlier cars.

I know I will pay a bit more for a low mileage car, but it will stay that way so fire away!

Well my order on those mentioned would be the 2013-2014 GT500 with performance & SVT paks, then other year GT500's, then Boss. I know you are not ready for the price on the '13/'14s, but 662 hp stock?... They seem to be holding value pretty well. Glasstop should be on the option list too. But hey they are all great choices. Follow your heart.

I can't get past the back side of the 2011-12 model. The Boss IMHO is not worth the extra. Since you are heart set on an aluminum block, save up the extra cash and get a nice 2013 GT500. Otherwise I would suggest a clean 07-09 GT500 and do the TVS 2.3L swap and tune on it.

For 2012 there were approximately 3250 Boss 302s produced and 766 Boss 302 LS's.
Compared to 3929 GT500 Coupes and 905 convertibles. It gets more interesting if you sort by color, option packages, and transmissions.

If I was going to drive the car, I agree with Redfire's suggestion on the 07-09 GT500s. They are holding value well and they're cool all around.

It's a terrible investment. Get the car that you want, not that you think will hold value. Don't park it in the garage. Drive the damn thing. If Shelby was alive, you think he would be happy to see GT500's sitting in garages? Hell no.

if you really want to buy another car.
get a boss 302, preferably a LS.
the boss is a limited edition car so it should hold it's value a little better.
i own a 08 bullitt mustang. they seem to hold their value better than a GT does, so in my opinion get a boss 302. if you get a LS they will be defiantly worth more in the future.

When am I supposed to drive it? I get what you're saying, but it's the situation I have. Christ it's enough of a fucking taffy pull to get my wife to understand why I want to spend $35k+ on something that sits a lot. I still enjoy the cars, just don't have much of an opportunity to drive it.

Actually I said that in my original post. I have been in retail and wholesale in the car business for 15+ years. All cars depreciate, all I'm trying to do is minimize the damage.

I think you are starting to see that the one you have is a very desirable car. It gets really hard to fight the itch to buy something new and different. Your early S197 GT with extremely low miles should be in great shape. I would probably just put a few bucks in the one you have and enjoy it as the chances arrive.

Post pics of your current baby. Bet it is sharp.

Exactly....Blower, exhaust and proper suspension and it's badass.

No issue with those motors, they are plenty strong, just heavy. Then when you throw the weight of a blower on top yet, it gets worse. I just like a more balanced car.

At 57 I have owned a lot of cars including an AMG Mercedes, Porsches, Corvettes, and lots of other stuff like a Hurst Olds. This is the first Ford I have ever owned and for some odd reason this car is under my skin more than anything else I have owned. It kind of hit me that there is always going to be something newer, something faster, something whatever. I am just going to enjoy what I have when I have the chance to. Thanks to all for making me see a little clearer.

I feel the same about my 06. I've added nearly every mod there is, the car runs amazing, looks great and is now my bracket car. I did buy a 16GT and it's sweet but something about the 06 I can't part with it. Add a blower to yours...You won't be disappointed!
