Damaged 2014 Mustang GT

In looking for a low mileage Coyote Truck motor I found a salvage title 45000 mile Black Mustang GT with all the bells and whistles, leather, track pack with the big brakes and 19inch tires. The drivers side back quarter is all flattened like it sideswiped a telephone pole from the mid back wheel to the bumper. The back bumper is missing but no back damage and all air bags intact. It's a 6sp manual and has been upgraded to a rebuildable title. They want 9K for it. Why would an insurance company total out something like this???

You might want to do a THOROUGH inspection. A friend just did some damage to his '12 Mustang, didn't look that bad but the front frame rail was literally broken in half.
Car got totaled.

The way this '14 looks, there's a very good chance that the frame is buckled back there, crumple zone is crumpled.
Too much work to fix it. Seems like it would truly be one of those cars that'll "never be the same again"
Remember it's a unibody, not a body-on-frame car ...

You might be right. They do sell a complete back quarter but they might have to remove everything in the back to install it including the drive train. It does have a lot of cool upgrade parts.

If I'm a betting man, that rear frame's all bent & car won't track worth a crap. I know there are expert body shops w/computer laser technology equipment to straighten things out, but salvage is still salvage & if you plan to keep it forever - good for you. 9K is a bit steep for that kind of damage (IMO).

Rear end looks to be shifted a bit, that could mean a lot of things.

I have a Mustang with a salvage/rebuilt title. it drives great and you can barely tell it was an accident.

9k is concistent with what I've seen on ebay for that motor and tranny.

You mean the tire is not in the right place??? I have not seen this car yet. Only pictures. I do not think I would buy it if it's not drivable as meaning it will not drive 100 miles on a dealer tag.

That looks like a perfect candidate for an 4 link back half and hang some new sheet metal on it.

That is on my mind plus Ebay. Picture of the back. As you can see, it was hit from something that would pull out the back bumper support. A hit like this would not set off the airbags.

Actually the factory airboxes deliver way more air than you will ever need until you get up over 600hp or so. And the factory setup is better at isolating the intake from hot engine compartment air as well.

Yes I know. This would be a great Ebay item. Also looks like muffler delete pipes in the back. Another Ebay item.
