I'm having a hard time deciding on my next Mustang.

I know I want another one from for sure. Sold my 07 GT Coupe last summer and plan on getting a convertible this time around.

I love the 05-09 design, best looking year, just my personal opinion.

But I also would like a Coyote motor.

Should I just buy a 11-12 ( closest to 05-09 styling compared to 13-14) and have less funds for mods or buy a 05-09, live with the 3v and use the funds on more fun mods?

Don't think I can afford a Coyote swap plus other supporting mods.

My previous 07:

I asked a similar question regarding 11-12 vs 13-14. The consensus is that the 13-14s are the ones to get. I like the styling of the 11-12 with raxiom projector headlights but overall there were a lot of upgrades to the 13-14s that make it that much better.

Originally I was looking for a 13-14 because of that but I found a 17 gt certified pre owned in the same price range as 13-14s around here and jumped on it. I dont regret it one bit but I do miss the styling of the s197.

If I didnt find my 17 gt I wouldve waited out for a 13-14 gt in either silver or black and wouldve swapped s550 seats into it.

I'm trading in my 2014 grey Cali Special tomorrow. Under 30K miles, BMR suspension, Boss wheels with 285 Michelin MPSS tires. If you want it call Anastasia at Mullinax Ford Apopka (888) 340-5702. Getting ready to go reload the stock tune now.

My experience with a 2009 Bullitt modified to the gills built engine, T56 trans, blower, heads, 643rwhp and a 2014 stock with just a tune and some suspension mods is that the Coyote motor is a hell of a bargain and you need about $5K of mods to a 3v just to get even with a stock Coyote and canned tune. Also the newer ones are a hundred times nicer inside and that's what you see when you are driving it.

a 4.6 GT with its brains blown out, big TVS on a DOB intake, will be a hell of a car. Not expensive to fix up.

Send me a message.

I used to be a 5.0 booster but went too far down that road. Every engine platform has its weaknesses.

TR3650 is not the problem. Clutch is.

Tough decision and all comes down to what you want and how you are planning on using it? Looks to me like a drag car?

Was just going thru it recently myself for a different HPDE track car, was looking at 12-14's and for something around $20,000, first 2013 GT/CS I looked at with 30,000 miles turned out had a bad lower end in motor, decided at that point I did not want to buy an abused used car and have to throw a bunch of money into it to make it track ready with big brakes, suspension, tires, etc... so shopped around for several weeks and recently put my money into a new 2018 GT PP1 and got what I wanted in that. It definitely cost me more in the long run, but saved me a lot of headaches, and now I have a track car with a warranty, just something to consider.

I'm a 05-09 fan myself. If I ever got another mustang it would be an 07-09 Shelby. The newer Mustangs just don't do it for me. The interiors may be nicer but that's not what I'm looking at when I'm walking up to it and walking away from it. And 50,000 miles and 4 years later, my Bullitt still puts a big ole smile on my face. That is the first time that has ever happened with me and a vehicle.

Yeah I had a fully built motor 302 stroker by JDM and all.

Not looking for the best of the best as this "new" convertible will be a weekend toy only.

Not looking to get max HP and what not but with that said the Coyote is a sweeter motor than the 3v hehe

If you have time, money, tools, and garage space, you could buy a cheap '05-'09 V6 with a good body and a wrecked '13-'14 GT. Strip the V6 down to the bodyshell and swap as many parts as possible over from the wrecked donor car.

There are many (like myself) who love the 05-09 styling. Mileage for mileage, option for option, you can pick up an 09 Mustang GT for much cheaper than an 11-14 GT. Throw a blower and supporting parts on the 09, and its as fast as the 11-14 but with the better styling, so why not?

I realize the SC on the 11-14 makes it considerably faster. But, then you're talking much more money. My point is that blown 09 vs. an NA 11-14 will be comparable in price and power, but you get the (arguably) better styling of the 09.

I'm assuming you are going manual trans? If going with the 05-09 and blowing it I suggest staying away from an automatic, the 5r55 auto trans in those models up to 2010 is weak transmission for a blower, if you push it hard it going to overheat. If doing an auto going to the newer 6 speed will be better for the blower. I do track days with my 2010 Roush, I've added numerous cooling options for trans and motor, trans still overheats on the track, just my 2 cents.

My 2007 GT MT SC presses all my happy buttons. 3 pedals and joy stick, check! V8 rumble, check! M90 supercharger whine, check! Enough power to convert rubber from solid to gas, check!

Great idea except that wrecked '13-'14 GT500s are much harder to come by and would cost a great deal more. If you're lucky enough to find one, grab it but be aware that this would be a much more complex and expensive project!

This.

S197 bodystyle...maybe a 2013 GT500 for the epic 5.8 aluminum block, but an 11 or 12 model with the aluminum 5.4 would be awesome too and save you some money.

Otherwise - what Skwerl said. A 5.0 is a serious value.

If I didn't have a 3V already, I'd be looking at a GT500 or a Coyote powerplant.

Was talking with my landscaper today when he mentioned selling his 2012
GT500 because he doesn't drive it. It's white with red stripes BTW and only has 20k miles on it. So if a drive to beautiful SW Michigan sounds fun he seemed pretty serious about it.

That would be a great car if the deal is right. Those cars are Monsters with so much mod potential if you want to get silly.
