Hey everyone,
My name is Andreas, just wanted to say hi as a new member here in the forum — checking in from Bavaria, specifically south of Munich.
It must have been around 2018 or 2019 when my wife and I saw something on TV that featured a Mustang — and for some reason, we instantly caught the pony fever. With two kids and two dogs at home, it was obvious that a car like that wouldn't really fit our lifestyle. So we settled for model Mustangs, Mustang wallpapers on our laptops and phones, and multi-panel artwork in the stairwell... Then in early 2020, we decided to just do it an being irrational. I granted my wife her wish, and she got a 2016 Ecoboost. Even though it's her daily driver during the summer, she treats and cares for that car like it's her baby. I found myself driving it less and less, and eventually, not at all.
Then, at the end of January this year, I nearly fell off my chair at work when I got a message from my wife that said, "Let's be crazy, life's too short — buy yourself a Gen 5 V8." I didn't need to be told twice. I already had the specs in my head (manual transmission, Coyote engine, ideally a 2013 or 2014 model), and it had to have a clean, documented history, low mileage, be well taken care of, and as close to stock as possible. Across all of Germany, there was exactly one listing that checked all the boxes — and it was spot on.
So now we've got two ponies in the stable, black and white, and we love taking them out for a ride. Whether it's a cruise to a beer garden, just driving around, or heading to a U.S. car meet, we're loving every minute of it. The other day we joked that we still need a Gen 1 and a Gen 7. We laughed, looked at each other… and knew deep down that one day it'll probably happen.
I'll probably stay a bit more in the background here on the forum, since I don't wrench on the cars myself and we plan to keep both of them as original as they are now. My wife's Eco has an Asch valved exhaust system, and mine has Shelby mufflers (and recently a different radio unit). But since I love photographing our cars, you'll definitely see me posting the occasional pic in the right threads. Here are a few to start things off:
