This is a video I created to add a Ford factory trunk release button from a Ford Taurus.

Every Mustang owner knows the frustration with not having a trunk release button. There are many aftermarket solutions to this, but I wanted to take this to another level and retrofit a 2010 Ford Taurus trunk release button into the Mustang headllight switch assembly.

Honestly, I don't know why some folks make such a big deal or get so frustrated over the lack of having a trunk release button on their dashboards. The trunk release buttons are already included on the keyfob and are therefore not considered as a necessity on the dashboard, to begin with. That being said, just how much of an inconvenience or difficult is it to press the trunk release button on the keyfob? get fucking real :laughlots:

For situations when the keys isn't in your car and you don't want to have to go get them. Or the batteries are dead.
Or...
Just because. It's not your thing. Cool. Move along. Don't need to be dicks about it.

I hated that my car didn't have a truck release in the car.

That's what prompted me to buy a Silverhorse Racing trunk release kit. It was very easy to wire it in, and I have mine hidden behind the glovebox door to the left just as it is in the SN95.

Same here. Its convenient to have an inside button. I also put it inside the glove box like Dino.

Nice job on the video.

Didn't say it wasn't my thing nor was being a dick about it. Personally, I just don't see the lack of having a trunk release button inside the car as such a huge inconvenience as some make it out to be when it's fully accessible on the keyfob. As for those situations you brought up, I just make certain to always have the keys on me, in my pocket whenever needing to get inside the trunk or in the car itself, as I always keep the car locked up when not near it, to begin with anyhow. In the event the keyfob batteries go dead, I just keep replacements in the desk drawer ready to go, so no worries there either. At any rate, I was just being sarcastic in the previous post and nothing more lol.

Guess a trunk release isnt really needed lol (from experience) I got the kit without instructions from AM. It worked for less than a year and the cheap ass chinese button fell apart. I never replaced the button, and I have one in a car I will be scrapping. Too Lazy to spend 10 minutes. lol

I bought a flush mount button off Amazon. $9 for 5 and mounted it on the top lip of the glove box right behind the door. It works fine. I didn't care for the kits to put it in the console as my luck the trunk would be open all the time, from the junk I throw in there. I have had to stop a number of times and close it because I had the fob in my pocket. I live in a neighborhood where I don't have to lock my car. I also keep my trunk full of tools. When someone stops by to have me do something I don't want to go look for my keys. I am old and lose things.

Thanks for your time and effort. I would like an inside release as well, just haven't taken the time to put one in yet. :highfive:

I have a convertible so I like the fact that if I leave the top down to run in the store I have all of my valuables locked up with no button access

I have a later model S197 ('13) and the issue with these isn't an inside trunk release. It's no key lock for the truck. There's only the button on the console and on the FOB to open it. Better not put your jumper cables in the trunk, you may not be able to get them out when needed.

Make sure you lock those back seats...

The back seats on convertibles aren't able to fold down due to the space the top folds down into is between the back seat and the trunk.

Can you not fold the rear seats down?
