I've got an '05 4.0 5sp with 25K originals. Anybody put a Bama or Accel tune on one? I'm mainly trying to get rid of the throttle lag......which is HORRIBLE! Would I be OK with a Sprint Booster and call it a day? And don't tell me to swap for a GT!!!!!!

Yes a tune will help with throttle response but that’s about all you’re really notice.

I have an '07 4.0 with a stick. A tune made a very noticeable improvement in throttle response. IMO, it was worth it for that alone. Mine was pretty bad before the tune.

I had an '05 4.0L/auto that came craigslist equipped with a JLT (sewer pipe) CAI and a mystery tune. It got flagged for the smog referee because of the tune. I had a local Ford dealership castrate it back to stock. I would say it made a big difference.

I ordered a Bama from Am Muscle. I did the math.....if I run all season on a 93 octane tune it will cost me ~$150 for the high test vs. 87. Let's go Branden!!!! I'll probably do a 'seat of the pants' dyno review when I get it loaded.

if all u want is quicker pedal response buy a throttle enhancement device for about half the cost of a tune. otherwise as mentioned...add 2 cylinders.

The price difference between the tuner and the throttle fix is less than $100. Compared to what happened to my IRA this year, that's money well wasted!!! I've had tuners in other cars and really liked the results. I doubt this Bama will make things worse.

Stay away from gimic devices.
You will not be satisfied with a bama tune.
Any canned tune > Bama.
I had a bama tune, removed it after one drive.

This isn't a 'canned' tune. It will be to the specs & mods on my car. And I thought you just posted you had a Diabosport?

When it was a 4.0, had a DS predator. Got a bama tune and yanked it, went back to the canned tune.
Now its a coyote swap, and I tune with SCT.

Your IRA is for a different area to discuss. As for BAMA? You may wish to do a little more searching other than on AM's website. Your last sentence is clearly a case of gullible naive innocence. Good luck to ya.

Wow! I didn't realize how uninformed I am. Could one of you muscle V-8 guys explain to me what kind of tune would be "not-canned?"

one specially done based on data logs from your individual vehicle, typically done on a dyno or with street driving.

On a stock 4.0, I would not spend for dyno or remote tuming.
Buy a Diablosport InTune, and use one of the included performance tunes. I was happy running the 87 performance tume. You can adjust gears/tire size, tweak fuel and timing if you want, but not necessary.
Note:IMO, diablo has a better included performance tune than SCT. If you want to get it tuned, than SCT x4 is the way to go.
