P0153 returns & 2 questions

I had an intermittent P0153 last December. I replaced the left side upstream 02 sensor in Feb at about 140k miles. Installed an NTK 22060. Today at 147k miles CEL came on, and the only code on the scanner was P0153.

If the cause was a wiring problem or something random like that, I think the CEL and code would have popped up before this. So I think I should replace the NTK with something better.

The better options on RockAuto seem to be WALKER PRODUCTS 25024749 or a DENSO 2344046.

I'm not a big Bosch fan. The local mechanic suggested I not have one installed on a Jeep, but I already had it, and it crapped out in less than a year.

AutoZone has no additional options.

1 - Am I thinking about this right; should I replace the left upstream sensor?

2 - If so, should I go Walker or Denso or something else?

I recommend replacing all four O2s with Motorcraft if possible.

Sadly quality of products is just not the same. This obviously reduces longevity of a product. Is there any warranty on the part from the local parts store?

Thanks, 86, but RockAuto says it had a 60 day warranty.

I'm kind of leaning toward Denso.

I learned today that OPR makes them too.

60 Days makes sense. There are too many variables in an engine that can cause a sensor to go bad.

I LOVE Rock Auto but Unfortunately their return system sucks!

I still recommend Motorcraft for most sensors when available…

Just had the p0153 pop up this morning. LTHs with extensions, honestly cant recall what brand I last installed. But my question is, does this code affect performance in any way? Like cause slower adjustments to A/F? And if so, possible engine damage? Really dont want to have to crawl my old ass under there to replace these until Im ready to do all my other upgrades

What does an oxygen sensor do? "The O2 sensor is located in the exhaust manifold and monitors the amount of unburned oxygen in the exhaust. It sends this information to the vehicle's engine control unit (ECU), which adjusts the air-to-fuel ratio". Wih that said, there are many things in a vehicle that can throw off the air fule ratio. There could be an underlying concern causing the air fuel to go off and outside the parameters to turn the light on.

"Sensor 1" (aka upstream sensor) issues will absolutely affect fuelling and performance. To what extent, I can't say for sure. It is unlikely to cause any engine damage though as the ECU will just revert to open loop operation.
