Its a bassani exhaust and I believe the headers are bassani also. Unfortunately I didn’t do anything to the car it was the owner before me so I don’t have that sense of security knowing what was done with what and how well it was done.

I can’t see that well in the engine bay, near that cylinder anyways. I took a video on my phone of the header bolts and gasket and I can’t visually see anything that’s wrong. But it’s very possible that a bolt is loose/cracked or the gasket is blown. Maybe even a weld on the headers are cracked. Im rooting for it being on the exhaust side of things.

Automotive stethoscope or a simple 2’ piece of rubber hose… listen for the noise comparing it with the other header tubes. If you have “cardboard” fiber material gaskets I can almost guarantee they are blown. Ask me how I know…

Here’s some photos I screenshotted from the video. And oddly enough, the gasket on cyl 7 is the one that has a small crack, while cyl 8 looks perfectly fine to me.
Anyone else see anything?

if you will take off your header ..you will find a blown gasket. the sound in the video is a blown gasket sound ..or perhaps a cracked header. But I am leaning towards the gasket.
Much cheeper also

That is not rod knocking.
BTW, do you guys lower the torque spec of the spark plugs when you use anti seize on the threads?
I used 25 instead of 34 Nm with a dab of anti seize on it - I usually do not use it on spark plugs but in this 3V case, I did.

If you get the zinc coated ones you don’t really need anti seize, but as far as torque goes idk I don’t torque down anything cause I’ve never owned a torque wrench lol

No anti-seize here. Just the updated nickel plated plugs and remove periodically…never had an issue with them getting stuck.

In terms of torque, I just torque until my elbow pops…calibrated for around 25-30 ft ft/lbs lol. I’m too afraid to torque it down to whatever ford specs for with my 1/2 drive torque wrench.

Get Ford MLS exhaust gaskets. Cheap and you will never have an issue with leaking.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys.
Taking it to the shop in the morning gonna let them handle it. Fingers crossed yall are correct on the exhaust gasket. I am too busy with college and work to mess with the headers so I’m just gonna let them handle it.
Will post an update when I hear what’s up.

Looked and sounded to me like it didn't come back for several seconds after plugging the coil back in... Food for thought, man it sounds like it's running a bit rough period honestly, pull the valve cover off and start doing a visual inspection... Lifter noise is my 2cents... Maybe even piston to valve contact, check your lifters, springs, rockers, etc...

A mechanic's stethoscope might help you narrow it down.

I guess the good news is that the left side is a lot easier to work on than the right. Don't try anything on the exhaust w/o 6pt sockets.
