Hello from Northeast Ohio. I am new to the forum, but not Mustangs. I was sold way back in 1986 when I took a used ‘85 Mustang GT for a test drive and instantly went sideways in the 1st 3 gears.

It took a couple years, but I bought a 1988 Mustang GT new off the lot which I still own to this day.

Fast forward to 2019, when my Dad @ 79 YOA purchased a 2007 Mustang GT/CS. He was the 3rd owner of a low mileage, pampered black beauty. In the fall of 2024 Dad passed the car to me to continue ownership in the family.

The GT/CS is basically original except for a few upgrades: MGW Shifter and Ford Performance Shocks and Struts. The door panel leather inserts were also replaced in the spring

To be honest, so far I am resisting temptations to mod the GT/CS because it is such a nice, clean, original car. My Fox Body has all the typical day 2 mods from back in the day, so I keep thinking I do not need another modified Mustang and I should just keep the GT/CS as a nice cruiser as it sits. If I lose out to the little devil on my left shoulder, I would change the rear gear to 3.55 or 3.73 (currently 3.31:1) and add a CAI with a tune.

I look forward to learning more about the S197 platform from other enthusiasts on the Forum.

Nice to read your post.
Likewise I am a new member to this forum- just joined.
I have a 2008 GT/CS (Performance White), with 110,000 miles on the clock.
I have also keep it very standard- my main aim is to optimise its maintenance and hopefully see it clicking over to 200,000 miles and then 300,000 miles on the clock.
In a world full of impermanence, that is a challenge, though thats the goal.

Over the past 2 years, I have been much more proactive with servicing. The auto transmission oil and filter had not been changed- I now aim to do that every year or two. The rear diff oil had not been changed- I got my guys to do that a year ago. Last year I proactively replaced front wheel hubs and bearings. I am just about to replace the ignition coils. Not because there was/Is anything wrong, rather because I figure that with 110,000 miles on the clock, it makes some sense to commit to preventative, proactive maintenance.

All the best,
Adrian

Just do it. How they should have come from the factory (and actually the Bullitt *kinda* did (but the modern aftermarket tuners' tunes are a whole lot better) and I don't think diminishes the car's originality/authenticity. It also wakes the car up. Alot

And a big Welcome! from Baton Rouge.

Beautiful rides. Glad see it’s staying in the family.

A cold air intake and tune really wakes theses cars up and adds some fun intake noise, and is easily reversible if you ever want to go back to stock

Welcome to the site. Lots of folks willing to help with Mustang issues.

My wife has advanced dementia so just waiting for a room to open near my son outside Dayton, OH. I will be looking for a Mustang car club in the Dayton area. And I'll still be driving this.

Thanks JC.

I recently read there is a Mustang Museum just outside of Dayton. And hopefully a car club for me to become involved with.

Send pics when you can.

Also Dayton has the soapbox derby too.
