We recently added a set of Steeda Ultralite wheels with 285/35 Nitto 555's at all corners. It seems the tires grip more than the suspension can handle. She says its too 'twitchy" and she feels like she's gonna wreck the car if she turns too much. Also, the live axle "two-step" has her a bit worried. What steps can be taken to remedy this sketchy handling issue she faces? We can get some sportlines and the eibach pro damper struts/shocks for a great price, but will that be too harsh for her? She also doesn't wanna scrape or have to circle the block because she's too low to turn in somewhere. She does, however, want to tighten up the handling/steering. Would progressive rate springs be her best bet?

Feel free to add/subtract from this list...

sport springs
sport dampers
adjustable panhard bar
adjustable upper control arm
strut tower brace
subframe connectors

If you are getting new shocks/struts don't ogo cheap. The handlign and road feel and ride of the mustang are greatly improved with good quality shocks/struts. Try a set of Kini Yellow(sport) shocks and don't waste your money on a $400 set of shocks. I've had both the Eibach(FRPP) and Koni yellows and noticed a world of difference.

Are you running the 285s on the front? If so the "twitchy" feeling could be due to Tramlining.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tramlining

I'd agree on this, and the new tires have different slip angles and turn-in response, which may take some getting used to. I drove on 285/30/18 Kumho V710s on the street a couple times and the tramlining is just horrible.

I've seen a stock suspension S197 on R-comps do very well in competition, so I don't think this is related to the suspension at all. You don't get more grip than R-comps.

good advice fellas...

She's only had the car since last monday. She went from the stock 235s to the 285s four hours after she took delivery. We hadnt even made it home yet and were already modifying/planning future mods to the S197 :) She agrees it'll take time to get used to. We plan to buy the Eibach pro-kit package with the sway bars/dampers/springs. She doesnt wanna aggresively lower the car. On top of that, m/m cc plates, steel braided brake hoses, better pads/rotors and she should be set!! I call it a "daily touring vehicle" haha

Sounds like overkill for the intended use of the car.

oh, and camber angle at -1.5. I'm getting that done after I order a new front wheel in two weeks.

do you have plates? 1.5 is nothing compared to 2.0, and 2.0 is nothing compared to 2.5. You just can't get enough of that wonderful stuff. Thinking about notching my shock towers to get 4 degress. :LMAO:

HAHAHA.. wow.. Actually, I've been holding off on getting any CC plates until I could find one fanblade on the cheeeeep.. Which I'm I'm in the process of working out a deal with the guy, unless I find one cheaper. (100 plus shipping) lol. the right front is pretty dicked, and I also have the stock front springs. And plan to keep it like that for a while too.

That new "club course" they are building is still 4 years out. Have you been to No Problem raceway??
I've driven/raced a lot of the tracks in the south and its the best short (under 2.0 miles)track almost anywhere.

There is one more DE in November there. At this point I would just recommend springs/shocks with good pads and fluid.

No need for more than that at this point.. save the rest of the funds for the track days and learning to drive the car.
