Yes I used the search feature but couldn't find the thread where you guys gave the link to the company that sells the lightweight fiberglass body panels and such for the S197. I am looking for a bolt down cowl hood as light as possible. I may be looking into some doors as well.

Linky appreciated.

I heard once that the FG hoods weigh as much as the stock hood.

Not what I am looking for. A link was posted on this forum to a place that sold S197 body panels and hood and even complete bodies.

Those hoods were like 6 lbs. That is the link and company I am looking for.

Very cool idea...:thumb2: Me, I'm just going with hood pins all around but it's a race car...::crazy:

I'm going to finally get to a scale early next week so i can finally know what I weigh. I really think I got a lot of weight off the car but don't know for sure until the scale proves it to me...lol

I do know one thing - I have done everything under the sun to shave weight so if it is still over 3500 lbs - then I am getting the VFN doors as well and going all safety glass and I KNOW I'll drop a ton of weight there. I'm holding off and hoping I have the weight down though cause I don't want to lose the ability to race in 'street' classes. After I get on the scale - I'll know where I'm going. I'm hoping the car is in the 3400 range right now and I will be very happy if it is. ( I started at 4080 lbs with driver...:stooges:)

Im not sure how many pins you were planning on using but i had originally planned on just using 4 hood pins was not recommended by VFN. VFN said you need atleast 4 fastners per side and atleast 2 in the front. The racecraft rails put 6 #6 Dzus fastners down the side. This hood is really light and only has like 3 structural ribs on the underside so its got some obvious flex in it
