Damn that's a lot of torque... and I really thought you'd be making more than 440whp on a 150 shot.

I don't have my nitrous kit anymore (haven't since August, but I'm looking into getting another one here pretty soon once I get some other stuff done.

What kind of gears are you running? Manual or auto? I know I saw you around RKC back in the day but I don't think you've been on there in a while.

440rwhp is around where a 150 shot should put me.

4.10's, 5 speed.

Im going down to the 125 shot.

So did you put down 290 off the juice? What other bolt-ons etc do you have? I thought you could make more than that with bolt-ons and a good tune, plus the 150 shot. Maybe you don't have as many bolt-ons as I'm assuming.

And how do you like your 4.10s? I'm thinking about getting either those or 3.90s.

125 shot is where I plan to be on my next kit. Back when I had the Zex on here, I pretty much stuck to the 75 shot.

Most guys never talk about fuel, run a high octane unleaded fuel,it is cheap insurance ie: sunoco turbo blue 104 unleaded, thats what i use.I run 10.68 @ 126 MPH with 550 + horsepower & torque on a all stock internal engine,i am over the line & know it,but i have been over it for 2 years & 500 + 1/4 mile trips.

Tune

Born To Run who tuned your car?

Actually i am running on the Kenne Bell canned tune that came with the blower, you know the old SCT 1.I tried tunes from others, but went back to the KB one for better performance. My car is going in this weekend to be re tuned by Steeda.ca as i have installed Kooks headers & x-pipe,i hope this new tune works as good as the old one!

So you are running 10.6’s on the stock motor and stock exhaust? WOW .. that is the best time that I have heard considering you have 100’s or ¼ passes and 550rwhp. How much boost are you running? I cant believe the car runs that good on stock canned tune, exhaust, engine. Your car is a monster.:highfive:

Unfortunately not many seem to truely understand that till it's too late.
I'm guessing it's because a lot of people are new, ignorant, and are sold a line from tuners and vendors about how "safe" these products are w/10lb. or less pulley on a stock engine.

"Safe" is a relative term I guess. Some people luck out and their engine lives a long time, with a lot of abuse, and people see this and assume that they represent the majority.

But do they?

Great question... I can see a 3 question poll thread for boosted engines...

What type of shortblock do you have?

1. Stock SB
2. Built SB (because my stock SB grenaded)
3. Built SB (precautionary, before my stock SB grenaded)

Part of the difficulty is all of the variables at play here.

How many miles on the stock engine? How many trips up and down the 1/4 mile track? How much boost are you running?

As you can see, it gets complicated, and quickly.

Agreed... that's why a simple question works best. Just trying to get a sense of percentages, and not get bogged down in the details.

For instance the Whipple w/the canned tune is supposed to be one of the safest options on the stock engine.

It would be real nice to track 50 cars with the stock whipple setup and canned tune, that went down the track at least 10x each year, and put 50,000 miles on the car.

See how many are still around after they hit 50K miles.

Such a "study" has never been done. We could do polls and that sort of thing but without the details to put things into context, controls in the experiment so to speak, it makes it hard to really draw conclusions.

Its just a message board bro.

Well I'd like 450 RWHP, not sure what TQ the supershaker puts out. But thats the power adder I'm shooting for. Should I be good for a DD that maybe only sees 10 passes a year

Depends how good the tune is. And especially where the air/fuel ratio is. Personally on stock internals I would rather make a bit less power and have it slightly richer, then making max power and running lean. Then again I would also never run FI on the stock internals without having the car on the dyno after install to make sure everything was where it should be either.
