So I had already had taken a chunk out of the first belt (after 800 miles) after putting on the whipple. I attributed this to weak stock tensioner, and bought a Thump_RRR tensioner along with a new belt.

Well 1000 miles after than, this belt looks worse than the first one. I am running a 3.375" pulley, but my gauge is reading 7-8#s of boost MAX. So i guess my belt is still slipping, the question is how do I fix it?

I would love steedas kit, but its mad expensive and i don't think you can run a 10# pulley with it. That leaves a BGG 8 rib kit, which is still kind of expensive. Would the 8 rib kit solve my problem??

Another thought i had was that the supercharger was not lined up with the rest of the pulleys. I am going to try moving it tomorrow, The chunks are coming out of the supercharger facing side of the belt, so i think i need to move the blower further towards the front of the car. Don't know how much it can really move, but im running out of ideas. Help?

The BGG 8rib kit will be what you need at your boost/power level. I must admit though, if you've got the coin, go with the 10rib Steeda Belt drive.

My guess would be either an alignment issue, like you mentioned, or it's just slipping. And pretty much your only bet for slippage is a Steeda's Belt Drive, or BGG's 8 rib. All of those SHOULD take care of your issue, barring there isn't an alignment problem.

Isn't there a better belt for the Whipples?

I know there is a green HD belt ive seen being run, but i believe that was on an 8 rib set up. Gates is the only one ive seen that makes my belt

Steedas site says the lowest boost it supports on a gen2 is 13psi. Which sucks because ultimately when im forged that's what i wanted to run (belt drive not boost). Would you guys cough up another 60 bucks for a new belt and hope its an alignment issue or just get the 8 rib kit and be done with it.

My question would be, since I haven't had this issue, but how would you fix an alignment issue? Since there is really no adjustment on mounting the belt driven accessories, WHY would a pulley go out of alignment?

If it is anything i would think its the supercharger itself not lined up perfectly? I don't know how much movement it can have though with multiple bolts holding it to the manifold...

Also i was looking at the new tensioner and it has some marks on it looking like the belt was jumping? I only looked at it briefly but can go double check and snap a few pics

I have the 8 rib setup from BGG on my car with the green strip belt and the less expensive ThumpRRR tensioner and I'm slip free as far as I can tell. I'm running a 3.2" pulley, too. The 10 rib is real nice but for the money the 8 rib will be fine at our levels I think.

I dunno bro... sounds like an alignment issue to me. The belt wouldn't be missing chunks if it was slipping, would it?

I would go for the belt one more time after you do your "alignment of the blower" tommorow. If its still chewing belts, then choose one of your other options... Steeda Belt Drive or BGG 8 rib kit

Ok, so i snapped some quick pics in the parking garage. Nasty there is solid tension on the belt.

here is a pic of the tensioner, it was shiny and clean when i put it on, now has dark marks on it

pics of the damage to the belt, took out a rib or 2 and goes at least 2 feet like that

and here is a side shot trying to show the alignment, it looks ok (I guess), tomorrow when i have light and am going to try to fix it i will take a straight edge to it and see how it lines up.

sure sounds like some issue with alignment, i know my Whipple instructions talked about it and ill get them out of the shed in the morning, I don't think belt slip could cause this i agree with miracle. maybe but, im not sure throwing an 8 rib kit on it would fix it either cause it could still be out of alignment.

also mine doesn't slip and i have 15,000 miles and stock tensioner on it yours definitely shouldn't do it after only 800 miles there has to be something else wrong.

i just received my steeda 10 rib setup. haven't had the car running yet but I must say it truly is a nice piece. The only thing I dont like about it is they give you one 6 rib idler pulley for the stock belt, I dont understand you 1 more couldn't be included so they would at-least match. I paid enough money in my mind to get one more idler.

Looks like alignment to me. In my case it was the ps pulley that gave me issues.
