Would a tune be realy nessary. I just want the pully to stop
rubbing the hood liner and pick up just a few HP.
Thanks.

Mine 3.25 pulley rubbed a grove in the the hood liner. The hood liner problem results from the air flow sucking the hood liner down. It is not necessarily the size of the pulley.

When doing a Whipple, regardless of what pulley your running, it is recommended that you remove the hood liner so the rubbing issue doesn't happen.

I dont think its a significate enough change to effect the tune. I'd expect that you will only gain a few HP with the change in pully size. For the best gains you still might want to consider a dyno tune shortly thereafter as well as piece of mind.

It will be fine, especially considering the minor nature of the change(~1 psi). I change pulleys on the same tune often. You should take your hood liner off though.

You should get a new tune if the change in boost might max out your MAF or fuel system. A minor change in airflow within range of your MAF/fuel system, will simply be met with more or less fuel to maintain the commanded AFR.

I get into boost rarely and will never go to the track. I think I would be fine too. as long as I drive like I do/. I'm 51 and fairly handicapped so I take it somewhat easy, but we all have our moments when some piss ant is messing with you.
I almost hate to remove the liner because of looks. What is under it, bare primer?
Good chance for me to check out Brenspeed. It's only 1.5 hours away to have it checked.

I removed the hood liner as per Whipples recomendation. The inner hood is painted white on my Performance White car. I think it looks better without the hood liner and in addition couldn't that liner contribute to further heat soak the engine.

I was a bit leary on removing the liner, but I was glad I did. it looks much nicer without the liner, you can clean under the hood, and you can always put a liner back on in the future if wish. The liner doesnt seem to serve much of a purpose besides some sound deadening and maybe a little heat shielding. I want the sound! It is a b@tch to get the push pins out, but nothing a plier couldnt handle.

Another option would be to spray some sort of adhesive on the underside of the hood in the area where the pulley is located so the liner sticks to the hood and does not get pulled down onto the pulley. Just an idea. I haven't done this so if it doesn't work, don't blame me.
