blowmasters are terrible, their quality blows literally. i had blowmasters on my car when i bought it. i looked at them closely they where the unpainted ones and i could see were the welds had gone bad on almost every weld. there was a block spot where exhaust gasses were leaking. i took them off and replaced with pypes and so far after close to 6k miles no leaks or welds breaking down.

that's just a cheap way to prevent them from rusting. instead of making the outer shell stainless they use cheap materials and bbq type paint to prevent them from rusting.

if the flowmasters are so terrible, what are the better options without spending a fortune..
I am having a tough time deciding and see quite a few people have the flowmasters.. if they are so bad, why have some many people continued to buy them, for so long?
I had a set on my 1989 LX 5.0 and they were perfect.

I see the 2 chamber seem to have bad drone but perhaps the 3 chamber are better, or even the newly designed ones they now have??

Flowmasters are bad ass. You just need the right mid pipe. Oh and this isn't tech.

cause of the name brand, hurst shifters have tons of problems but tons of people buy them...it doesn't necessarily equate to it being the best product out there. you can also use apple and their bandwagon of mindless drones that buys every icrap thing they make.

in all seriousness pypes makes shit headers aka made in china but their exhaust systems are stainless and have slight fitment issues but nothing that can't be bent to fit with you're bare hands. and for a catback its less then 400 bucks not a bad price if you ask me. magnaflow makes a decent product put then you're paying the better half of 600+. shop around see what deals you can find. maybe you should just get a custom set up made.

Dude your smoking crack. Everything pypes is made overseas. Not just headers. Their headers are actually the only quality thing they make. Plus by the time you fuck around getting the pypes shit to fit you'll end up spending more for less quality. Plus pypes uses crap quality stainless tubing and doesn't even weld with stainless wire.

Flowmasters sound good, but like loudnlow said, you need the right midpipe pipe (preferbly catted) or run a resonator or some sort or you get the tin can tone.

my wasn't that bad of an install very little tweaking really needed to be done. i know nothing of welding other then i know what it looks like when the get burned through lol. my system has held up for racing and every day street driving and is in good condition still. the sound is pretty good especially combined with the shorty headers from frpp.

Ive seen a couple sets of violators literally fall apart due to improper welding process and bad quality materials . Ive also ran the mid muffler system and it was aweful.

I have a set of flowmasters with a o/r h pipe and I think they sound good. And I heard good and bad things and pypes. Do look up videos on youtube for the sound you want but the only thing I can say is to aviod SLP loud mouths with a o/r h pipe.

here is a video of my flowmasters.

flowmaster were the shit back in the day on the old mid mounted mufflers but they always rot out after 2-3 years. They do make stainless ones now. They sound like shit on my car and not sure how big the hushpowers are to make a mid muffer set up.
