So yesterday I decide to take my car out for a ride as I haven’t driven it in over two weeks. I’m on my way to get a cup coffee and I see a blue and silver Mustang Shelby KR in front of me. He parks his car and in the parking lot and I of course park my car near his, of course. We both introduce one another and complement each other on our cars. Tells me his name is Tom and says that he just picked up the KR last week. Apparently he’s upgrading from the GT500 which I’ve seen him driving around town before. As it turns out he's also going to pick up some coffee. Anyhow, he gets his coffee and is first to leave as I have to wait in line to get me cup of Joe. He gives me his contact info and tells me he’ll let me know when the next cruise is, sweet I’m game, and I thank him.
I get my coffee, go outside and see him standing next to his car. We start talking about cars again. I then tell him, Man l’d like to drive that car someday. He says, ok and hands me the freaking keys. I was like WTF! He says, “yeah lets go for a spin to the golf course and back. A nice straight road WOW! All right!
I jump into the driver seat, that car was amazing it felt so refined compared to mine. My car felt like a toy compared to that thing. The handling was great, the power was good, shifts were short and smooth. The KR’s ride firm yet smooth. There was nothing about that thing did not seem top notch. Ford and Shelby did their home work when they put that thing together.
We pulled back into the parking lot and I thank him. I say ok your turn and I hand him the keys to my car. Same run, he says man this thing wants to run. He also liked the way the exhaust sounded. Tom also liked the sound of the Whipple. According to him it’s louder than the blower on his car.
Anyway, Tom was one cool dude. The whole experience made my day just thought I would share. I'll post a pic later.
