haven't done any work around the house for the past few months due to my work schedule. finally switched over to my new rotation and now work Monday through Fridays 6a-2p so I'll have time to finish up some projects around the house. I did however finally clean out the garage and make room for the car though!

thanks man. after the holidays I'm finally goin to order the stone for the fireplace and probably replace the mantle. got to finish up the drywall on the garage and get it painted also. then probably going to redo the tile in the kitchen for some nicer 18" tile.

the fiancé and I finally decided on which color and shape of stone we're going with for the fireplace. I'll be placing my order Monday and should take a few weeks to come in. also going to look at garage door window options since my garage door doesn't have any. this should keep me busy for a while. tax time is going to help a lot and I'll finally be able to move on with my plans

one thing I did get around to doing during the holidays was mount my tv on the wall. tomorrow I'll be running the wires inside the wall to clean it up

Good Job, I love wall mounted TV's, we had the fortune of the previous owners leaving their wall mount here so all I had to do was screw my tv on and drop the wires through the wall. Looks good man, keep it up!

?? I was. until you said that. haha. isn't that how you hide them??

They make plates that can go directly behind the tv that have an outlet on them and a hole for snaking the cables through. You put another plate at the bottom and run those cables to your dvd/blu-ray player, xbox, cable box, etc. Either relocate or tap off an existing outlet for power.

This is what would go behind the tv. If you could just remove the outlet, that's what would go at the bottom.

cool. that's what I was planning to do except for the power outlet. I'll have to ask my fiance's uncle to come help me with tapping into the existing outlet on the bottom for power. I figured there was a safer way to plug the tv in without having to snake the power cord all the way down.

placed my order for the stone to go on the fireplace today. only came out to $255 total. should be here in a couple of weeks. I'll be changing the mantle also while I'm at it and making a wooden one for it once the install begins. part of me still want to run the stone all the way to the top of the fireplace wall. but it'll have to wait

Correct you do not want to run a power cable through the wall. Talk about a fire hazard. What I do is I'll add another power outlet and cable outlet behind the TV. Than I'll mount a shelf below the TV with the Blu Ray, cable box, etc, etc. It's not too rough when you have to snake wires through the wall just as long as it's not POWER!

not to mention the insurance company likely not covering you if your home goes up in flames from and incorrectly run power cord running inside your walls. I decided to wait until I can figure out how I'm going to tap into the power for the outlet

took a 1 1/2 hour trip out to ikea today to buy a new entertainment center. ended up spending about $900 on a full 4 piece entertainment center and a sofa table. spent a long time building the tv stand, glass bookcase, bookcase, and the sofa table. still need the bridge piece that runs along the top of each bookcase but I need to unmount the tv from the wall first and bring it down a bit so I can fit the bridge piece over it.

here's a pic of three of the pieces I built for the entertainment center so far

here's a crappy pic of the sofa table might move it over to the entry way though

tomorrow I'll get the bridge piece built and mounted to finish it off.
