Bent axle or wrecked diff?
Long story short I had an incident last week and damaged the rear end. I'm not exactly sure what happened but I was at a racing event and I spun out doing a 360 and ended up rolling backwards. To try to save it I caught reverse to keep the momentum going in my direction of travel and there was several grimacing noises from the rear of the car and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree...TC light, ABS light, check engine.
There was vibration that sounded like gear whine from the rear end and I managed to get the car home slowly and dismantled her that night. Once opened up I found a damaged bearing and sleeve on the driver's side in the diff....pretty quick fix and I got new bearings pressed on and I did both my rear wheel bearings and axle seals while I was at it.....had the car back on the road the next morning with fresh fluids etc....but the vibration and noise was still there....

Put the car up on the stands again and noticed the driver's side was wobbling slightly so assuming the axle is bent....

Is is possible that the axle is fine and the diff is screwed? What's the possibility that the housing is bent and the axle/diff are fine?

if you want to upgrade to a 9" rear end, let me know. I can offer you a hell of a deal, save you almost 1000 bucks off the cost of a new 9" rear.

i was doing 120kmph on the highway when i was cut off and spun across all four lanes into a concrete wall rear end first.. i ruined the panhard bar, bent the axle, and bent the rear end tube. do your self a favour and find a used rear end.. it isnt worth the hassle of trying to figure out whats wrong. i found a used one with welded ends, replaced the alxes and swapped the gear out for around $1000. saved me a headache in the long run
