Not the same motor, but on an old low budget turbo 4 cylinder project i had i was cutting out a oil return on the oil pan while the engine was still in the car and the entire 3/4" circle piece i cut out fell into the pan. I figured there was no way i was getting it out easy and it would never...
ya the 4x4 stock suspension is hurting. I bought a new home and I have been living through construction last two years. I have such bad roads in my neighbourhood that I would scrape/smash everywhere if it was lowered. Even just pulling into my driveway would wreck most lowered cars. Supposed to...
not sure if you have the same sct options as me, but revs/mile also needs to be set to accommodate your wheel size. maybe it has some wacko value in it that is throwing off your readings. just a thought..
would be great to see a complete mod list if you have it handy!
are these numbers at the flywheel or at the wheels?
what kind of dyno was it? what kind of fuel did you run?
it must be a ton of fun to drive.
do you think it will last for very long at 9psi on the stock shortblock?
if it is not the restrictor than is there any chance you have head gasket issues?
white smoke can also be coolant. think of the old 3.8 v6s.. I cleared a city block with white smoke when my head gasket started going.
I would call comp turbo just to make sure.
You can ruin your turbo pretty quickly if you have too much pressure.
found another thread regarding the turbo (and a guy having smoking issues with a .080 restrictor but on a 2v mustang) and a couple people mention they are running 0.065...
it is possible that if you are using a small feed line than the line itself may provide enough of a restriction so you do not need a seperate restrictor. If you know the exact model of the turbo I can look it up pretty quickly on google or on the comp turbo site.
Maybe I could just drop by a muffler shop on the way home and have them cut out the stock H pipe where the restriction is and replace with normal pipe and forget the aftermarket H altogether.
out of curiosity why would you not run an oil restrictor? is there an internal restrictor? (seen those on some saab turbos before).
every journal bearing turbo I have had on previous cars needs one to restrict oil to the correct pressure or you will blow out the seals in no time and it will...
an interesting read:
" Then went back to the shop and they tweaked a few things in my tune. WOW what a difference I felt just from having the plates put to all open."

I think I am just going to purchase...
ya thats what I was thinking (see first post) about the throttle position (that the "gains" felt are just a result of the throttle allowing more air at partial throttle, but no actual gains at WOT).
Talking Delete Plates..
Since there is no way to do a true apples to apples comparison (since...
I dont plan to go racing , just looking for some more power with simple bolt on mods that I can live with on the daily commute.
I think if I decide to do the delete plates I am going to look a little more into the DIY method and just spend money on a mail order tune for them. That should keep...
