S550 Mustang Suspension and Powertrain Discussion

I haven't been following this year, but that is good to hear. Aschenbach won in a Camaro last year and as far as I can remember the closest mustang was like 3-400pts back. There was another Camaro in the top 5 as well from my memory. It was not really common to see mustangs at the front of GTS.

BTW, The skepticism was very well deserved. Steeda has clarified that there statement was based on prior experience with IRS Mustangs. What a colossal bag of douches.

S550 Mustang Suspension and Powertrain Discussion

Okay... Then how about the Corvette? The C7 has a 1.2" wider rear than front. The F80 M3/4 with a 1" wider rear. Plenty of the best handling cars have wider rears than fronts... There are so many other factors involved in handling balance, having a rear that is 0.8" wider on each side is not...

S550 Mustang Suspension and Powertrain Discussion

There is a variance of weight in existing Mustangs... So if they had one single car it could be 200lbs heavier than some and near 300 for others. I understand the skepticism... If Steeda is basing this on a weighed car I'm not sure why they would lie. But I don't see an actual quote or source...

IRS adds weight. The imprecise 2-300# could be attributable to the fact that different trims weight more and less (V6, GT, Premium, Track Pack). Secondly the car is wider, and longer. The chassis is absolutely not a carry over. I want it to way the same or less. Usually when there is something...

Shit: http://autoblog.com/2014/06/01/2015-ford-mustang-weight-gain-300-pounds/ According to Steeda the S550 has put on 2-300 lbs.

Front 13" GT Rotor Works on Rear?

This is pretty much the response Yahoo gave its users when Google rolled out and people thought their search was now shitty in comparison. Turns out, no, there are just better search algorithms.

Front 13" GT Rotor Works on Rear?

People should use search... The vBulletin search that is available on this forum is a fucking abortion. You cannot use Google to search on this forum due to the login requirement. I don't particularly care how threads like this are handled, but the search on this forum sucks. I use it. I...

    Sky Render's Build Thread

Any chance you know anyone with a decibel meter? I have been thinking about getting exhaust, but most tracks in Northern California have relatively low db limits (Laguna being the worst at ~90-93db). Also any audio of the new exhaust would be awesome.

kcbrown, Your calculations are reasonably spot on but you are neglecting one of the more important aspects of why claims of 30tq increases are ridiculous. Only a small amount of the torque that is applied to rotate the driveshaft is lost through vibration, heat, etc. The rest of it is...

Pad knock back is almost surely to blame. With the level of grip you have up front it is probably impossible to avoid some knock back. Running half thick pads will only make this worse as there is a lot more room for them to be knocked back to. Even on stock tires you can get some pad knock...

    Front Roll Center Migration

I'm sure that's true. What about a race tuned mcstrut vs an SLA? Those Porsche cup cars seem to do just fine with struts. I am not arguing that an SLA is not more effective than a strut based setup. It clearly is better. It is the best suspension setup (if you add in pushrods it is the...

    Front Roll Center Migration

Oh come on. There are tons of amazing handling cars with strut suspensions. The struts are not the weak link in handling is my point.

It will still have a stick axle in the rear. Also you will have a nice pool but your house will still be cinders.

Putting an SLA kit on the front of an S197 is like filling your in ground pool while your house is burning.

Remote Reservoir shocks typically are only needed if you want to shorten the shock body without losing stroke in the piston. The nitrogen pressurized chamber is kept in the remote reservoir, freeing up valuable space for more stroke in the body.

Sorry that was a typo. I meant RC height. Your chart shows a lowered roll center to go along with extended ball joints. That is, from my understanding, the opposite of what the real world effect is.
