Best spark plug for stock GT 2006

I did little research on the internet and it seems to me that everyone who had problem with fallen ground electrode have problem with combustion gas leak around spark plug too. So that make sense for me.. So I will use it anyway and check them after few hundred miles. This is how looked every...

Best spark plug for stock GT 2006

I know that Autolite spark plugs were welded long time before motorcraft did it. And yes, from what I can find on the internet, they had some issues with the ground electrode that's sometimes fall into combustion chamber. But in most cases there were blower on the engine.. So that make sense due...

Best spark plug for stock GT 2006

Hello, I have a question about Motorcraft spark plugs SP547. Specifically, I want to ask about ground electrode, that is welded on the spark plug. I used an older revision last time that had the barrel with ground electrode made from one piece, but the SP547 should be the latest revision.. Is...

3 Valve 4.6 Lifter noise on Cylinder 4. 2005 GT..

First of all, you need to replace timing chain tensioners, because they cause most of all problems at valvetrain at all. Specially at the passanger side head, because this head get starved from oil first. Most of all problems with roller followers and lash adjuster are caused by bad tensioners...

To change timing chain or not change it, that is the question

Midlife Crises: eighty6gt answered my question, not the author of this topic.. And I have "only" 80k miles. I understand both ways - replacement of only damaged parts, or just about everything while I'm there. Because I have still relatively low mileage and not much visible damage on timing...

To change timing chain or not change it, that is the question

That is not for the 3V.. This is the right kit I think. But don´t know if it is original Ford parts or aftermarket: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-4-6L-3V-Camshaft-Drive-Kit/193253637241?epid=1578501842&hash=item2cfed07c79:g:FKYAAOSw3I9d8mw4#rwid

To change timing chain or not change it, that is the question

Thank you. I would like to stay back from "while you're there":) Because that's how I can exchange everything right away .. Replacing just tensioners and seals will cost me about 200 USD, but the whole timing kit (without oil pump) with tools is at least 1400 USD (post and charges to...

To change timing chain or not change it, that is the question

Hello, I apologize in advance for my English. I'm from Europe and I don't use English much .. I just took my timing cover off to check the infamous chain tensioners. I'm glad I did it, bacause the gasket on both tensioners is blown.. I'm going to use the Melling oem plastic style tensioners...

Or does someone know what type is the fitting there? Is it type with O-ring, or it is cone seal? Which of these types is used on this pump? To release nut on my pump and look at the fitting I need to put back timing cover back on engine and then reasemble the pump, but I´m waiting for timing...

    Traction LOK Spider gear play

I'm reporting after clutch pack replacement: - this procedure does not solve my problem with too much play somewhere, which cause the clunk. So my main problem hasn't been solved but the rear axle is now much more tight and the LSD works way better. I also had quite large end play on both axle...

CAMMED and tuned - oil questions

Yes, SynPower 5w-30 was that oil what I meant but I couldn't remember. Seems to be very good choise for 3V according to specifications of this oil. Just make sure that you order simply SynPower, not Synpower FE which is ACEA A5/B5 + A1/B1.

CAMMED and tuned - oil questions

Even in Europe you can get full saps oil in 5w-30. Not many, but they are here. For example Millers Oils Trident or some Valvoline oil. I´m trying to avoid low or mid saps oil if it is possible..

CAMMED and tuned - oil questions

I totally agree. For me is here only one negative aspect of running thicker oil and it is little worse fuel economy. But for me is more important the engine protection, so 5w-30 is ideal compromise.

CAMMED and tuned - oil questions

Here are some of my observations: - Clearances on main bearing, rod bearing and camshaft are basically same on 4.6 3V like GT500 have and there is recommended 5w-50. In my opinion it is because higher loads are assumed. - Clearance tolerance on base V6 are very close to 4.6 and Ford recommended...

CAMMED and tuned - oil questions

I´m running on several different 5w-40 in past two year and don´t see any different against 5w-20. No VVT issues at all. I take 5w-40 only because in europe we do not have much of 5w-20 or 5w-30 without low saps norm (which is bad in my opinion). Now I found Millers Oils Trident 5w-30 which...

    Stripped muffler bolt holes

Sorry, my english is not very good so maybe sometimes my answer do not make sense:) When I wrote "thread with insert", I meant the helicoil spring. Is many of manufacturers of this thread repair sets, but the more expensive ones using stainless steel on inerts. I never have problem on this...

    Stripped muffler bolt holes

In my opinion is the best way to do it use some thread repair set like helicoil. This give you a chance to make bigger thread in future if it will be necessary. But from my experience the thread with insert is stronger then original.

    Traction LOK Spider gear play

Rick: You'll be right. I got out both side gears with clutch pack and I measured actual thickness. One side was 0.635 and other 0.628 so my clutch pack is definitely got some wear. I decided to replace the clutch pack and then I will see if there any improvement. I'm just deciding which one of...
