    How long since you removed and inspected your mass air sensor? I would hit that with some MAF cleaner too. Pull your intake hose as well and look at your throttle body. I always check little stuff like that when doing routine maintenance...

    Wouldn't the piston ring being seated higher on the piston put the piston closer to the head or combustion chamber on exhaust stroke though? That would definitely heat the piston. If that ring came apart, shrapnel would grenade the cylinder. Still doesnt answer why it's always #8 though...
