    Clutch Pedal Issues

My buddy had that happen to his car - he was able to drive it home very carefully. Had to replace the clutch master cylinder because that stupid plastic piece is molded onto the end of the rod. He did tell me that he heard someone was making metal replacements that would screw together, but...

    chagin tranny fluid

I filled mine from the top. Remove the bezel around the shifter and snake a length of tubing down and into the fill hole on the tranny. Use a funnel on the top and pour slowly.

    TSB on spark plug removal?

My neighbor just did his with 80K on the clock. Used carb cleaner - no issues getting any of them out.

    Front end jack points?

I have to ask you guys that are lifting the front of the car by the k-member - what kind of jack are you using? I've got several floor jacks and I can't get enough travel on the handle when it's that far under the car with any of them.

    Eibach pro-kit

Welcome... Ride quality after lowering is about as subjective as exhaust sound. You don't need to change out the struts/shocks, there have been lots of folks that have used stockers with lowering springs. However, the emerging consensus is that ride quality and performance are enhanced with...

I use a mix of 2 qt Redline D4 and 1 qt Redline MT90. I fill with a funnel and hose from the top (down past the shifter boot).

    WTF?..battery is dead

Battery died 3 times in my 2005. The third time it died I was gone for a week and upon return found it at 5v. I removed the battery from the car and took it to the dealer. They were very reluctant to swap it and wanted me to have my car towed to them. I spoke with the service manager and...

    Should spark plugs be pulled?

I have to admit - I was a little freaked out about checking mine. I had read all the stories on several forums about people with as little as 20K miles having broken plugs. I only have 8K miles on my car - so I kept telling myself I would not have any problems. Once the first couple came out...

    Should spark plugs be pulled?

No, you don't have to do anything with the fuel rail. As far as other plugs, Brisk and Champion make one piece plugs but not many people are running them that I know of. For a NA motor - I think the stock plugs are ok - you just have to pull them regularly and make sure they don't get gunked up.

    Should spark plugs be pulled?

I pulled mine this weekend. Very easy task. There was a small amount of carbon buildup on them - so I took a bit of steel wool to them and then a coating of anti-seize. I guess I'll make this part of my yearly oil change routine.

    Should spark plugs be pulled?

My car is only a weekend driver with 8K miles, but I'm coming up on three years and I think the plugs need to come out and be checked. Is there a special procedure for removal - or just if they break? What should I spray on them to help if they are tough? Can I get nickel based anti-seize...

Cutting Rear Springs to Level Car

I had cut rear springs in my car for a couple years. I cut one coil off the top of each spring. This lowered the rear about 7/8" to 1". There is a locator inside the upper spring mount, which won't be effective once you cut the small coil off, but the spring is contained and can't really go...

Are all the S197 stock batteries POS?

My stock battery died completely after about 2 years - resting voltage of 5v after coming home from a week vacation (was trickled full before I left). It had crapped out on me three times prior but was revived with a charger. The car is used on weekends mainly, but I trickle charge it weekly...

thx Don... I don't have much to add in the FI arena, but I can talk about battery problems all day long :)

    Stand-By Current Draw/PCM Current Draw?

I've had similar problems with my car since I bought it. It usually sits for a week at a time or so (weekend car). I've been hooking it up to a trickle charger at least once a week. Parking it with the radio and alarm off. Nothing seemed to make any difference. I was just away for a week -...
