This the second time this has happened, about 3 months in between instances.

The first time, it randomly goes into this high idle and after shutting off the car and turning it back on, it's back to normal.

This time, I turned off the car to get gas, and turning it back on, the idle was stuck at 2000 RPM. I let it idle for close to 2 minutes waiting for it to come down, but it stayed there. Tapping the throttle raised the revs and it was very slow to come back down to 2000. Turning it off then back on did not work this time. Eventually the car shut itself down (which scared the poop out of me), and upon starting it back up, it was acting perfectly normal.

Any thoughts? TPS, the tune, dirty throttle body? The intermittent nature makes me think it's just the tune glitching, but I have no idea. As of now, it's not a huge concern, just an itching oddity.

Thanks.

tunes don't change

an input to the PCM will make the PCM adjust to conditions.

start with checking the MAF/TB to see if they are dirty
