2007 Mustang GT wont start

We were troubleshooting a no start on my 07 GT and discovered a bad FPRS. In the process the engine flooded (gas coming out of air intake when trying to start). Decided to wait a few hours to try starting again. When we did the engine would not crank. the starter engages but just clanks. Any thoughts? Battery is fully charged, had starter checked.

I would try to turn the engine over by hand if it as spraying out that much gas it could have hydra locked the engine you could let sit overnight and check the engine oil that would give the gas time to go past the rings and if the oil smells like gas that could be the issue, I would definitely try to turn the engine over by hand first though, I never have seen a gasoline hydro lock, but I work on diesels so take it for what it’s wort, but if it won’t turn by hand with the crank bolt something is wrong, I have seen people replace starters on a locked up engine

Also if it won’t turn pull the spark plugs out and try again, check if the spark plugs are saturated with gasoline

Thanks Mrerob, I had the same thoughts. I let it sit overnight and the same scenario. Removed the belt and plugs and still couldn't rotate it. Pulled the starter and the flywheel looks ok (from the little I could see in that position), and the starter is good. Short of something being in one of the cylinders, I am at a loss.

Does the oil or did the spark plugs have a strong gasoline smell? I’m starting to thing your engine may have shit the bed, also did you try and rotate it both ways, I have seen some engine failures that “catch” one way for lack of a better word. Gas being as thin As it is I wouldn’t think it would cause a hydralock issue, and if it did it wouldn’t take long to dilute into the crankcase but like I said my professional background is diesels, but if it won’t turn with the spark plugs removed and the belts off definitely a mechanical failure, also this may be a stupid question but sometimes people will get frustrated and forget but make sure the transmission is in NEUTRAL wether it’s an auto or manual
