Hey I have an 07 Shelby gt and I guess when they put the hood pins in at the shelby factory they didn't fill the holes after they drilled them. Its just metal and it ended up rusting and now I have to repaint my whole hood. Another thing is the camber is set wrong so I have to adjust that too because my front tires are fried after only 15,000 miles. Does anyone else have this car or heard of these problems? Personally I would've expected better from shelby, especially with the hoodpins.

Don't get me wrong I love the car inside and out, I just would think that when you spend the extra money you should at least have it done right.

no offense but from what I've seen many things are done half ass on the shelbys. I saw one at the dealership, and it looked like they hacked out the stock grill with a hacksaw so the billet one would fit, and the hood already had bubbles in the stripe decals, not to mention they weren't aligned right at seams and joints

buddies on the other site say,

"Tell him to tke it in for warranty work and they should fix the problem and pics would also do good.
Why does he have to repaint the hood? and make sure to ask him if he has the IUP on his snailby"

I sell them and they are hacks imo...everyone I sold had an issue that was noticed or not by the customer...The scoop was a joke, the paint was peeling by the rivets on everyone..The grills were hacked...waste of money:321:

Yeah I was going to bring it in for warranty, I've heard that they would have to sand the hood which would mean repainting it. And I also have the stripes are twisted i guess you could say on the rivets for the hood scoop. I was very disappointed.

And yes I have the IUP on it.

Here are pics of the rusting. Its under the paint on the right, you can see it looks like its bubbling up. Cars a little dirty sorry, just got done driving in the rain.

Under Hood
You can see how its not filled at all, which is why it rusted.

First off (dont quote me on this) but the shelby hood pins are aluminum (NO offense meant but those look like some oreilly specials slapped on at the dealer) , at least all I have seen are. Second, put a vinyl stripe on anything and then bolt something over it. Now, go ahead and move it through the air at highway speeds for a few weeks. The vinyl WILL do just as you have pictured. That is from your hood scoop moving around due to wind resistance. Trust me on that one my stripes did the same thing. The vinyl is really just floating on top of the adhesive, get it hot and it will move, put enough pressure on it and it will move. Now, I may be sticking my foot in my mouth on this one but the shelby gt's just have the frrp handling kit slapped on them after the factory because they are really just a hopped up version of a gt/cs. Slap on some stripes, hood pins, a dash plaque, and some bling bling on the interior (don't forget the "cold air kit and tune") and you have an overpriced gt/cs that has shelby written on it. Sorry if I broke anyones hearts here but I am just stating my opinion and observations on this one, not to mention my experience with a damn good stripe guy that explained it all to me, replaced them, and lo and behold....... they were the same way in a couple of weeks again.

agree on all counts...and your not gonna break any hearts..This type of shit shouldnt be happening after spending all that $$ for a SHelby GT..Its Shelby's shoddy work, the customer is the one having to pay the consequences....

Hence why I completely ignored the salesman when he tried to show me one and walked right over to my car.... and bought it. I could see damn flaws from 40ft away and laughed at him when he said they were supposed to be like that.

Now that's just plain bullshit. I can't believe they would let shoddy workmanship get past quality control like that.

I went and looked at one after I bought my car to see what the big deal was. It was a decent package but they wanted 50K for the car in the showroom that was identically optioned to mine plus the shelby mods.

The grill and hood pins/scoop really looked odd.

when i looked at my dealership i saw the Shelby GT and what i then bought, GT/CS.
to me the Shelby is WAY Over priced.
hell from all i can see i can make my CS like the Shelby Gt with for less than 2K. in which is still a joke to pay for FRPP power pack, 25hp for $900 WTF?

the FRPP suspension. ive never seen or drove before so on that i cant give a opinion.

but to me, my CS looks better than the Shelby gt and was only 30k.

I also think the shelbys are way overpriced, Thats what i hate about anything with that mans name on it, its kind of silly Ford should have just kept SVT going and made the 07 a Mustang SVT Cobra. That is just ridiculously shotty work in the pics no offense to you SGT, something i would not expect for something with shelbys name on it, and something i wouldnt pay any extra for. Get that taken care of at the dealership on their dollar. It came like that and should be taken care of.

I have been at the strip here and left the Shelby GT in the dust with what little I have done. As for the FRPP suspension, the camber mod has to be done or you will go through tires. When I swapped my suspension I called the dealer for an alignment quote. $68. I was very surprised when I went to pick the car up and they wanted $145 because they had to adjust the camber to bring it into spec. HELLO! Isn't an alignment, Caster, Camber and Toe? The dealer was nice and charged the agreed price. I have the Steeda camber plates but have not installed them yet. My local tire shop just got a laser alignment machine and we are going to use it to test the actual settings with the camber index blocks to see how much variation there is. I want to be able to set camber at the track when I swap wheels and tires.

As an owner of an overpriced Mustang, there's no way I would stand for that workmanship. That's what happens when you farm out the work, no quality control.
