How many different factory mufflers with polished stainless tips were produced?

A while ago I bought a 2006 GT that had a lot of extras added to it like side scoops, shaker hood scoop set up etc. and I noticed it had unique exhaust tips but factory looking mufflers. One day I got under the car to see who made the mufflers and they had the stock Ford logo and stock looking number sequence. At first, I thought they were the optional rolled tip mufflers that came with the GT appearance package with includes "Hood Scoop, Pony Emblem Engine Cover and Bright Rolled Exhaust Tips". But then I was helping a guy I met at a gas station who had just picked up a 2007 GT with some switch's he needed for his driver's seat and he gave me the take-off mufflers that came in the trunk of his new ride. His car had the hood scoop etc. from the GT appearance package so I knew these were the rolled exhaust tips and that's exactly what they look like rolled over metal. I'm trying to figure out what these different tips on my '06 are and where they came from, they are straight cut on the end and are wider, about 3 1/4", compared to the stock GT tips which are about 2 7/8" and the stock ones are a little longer. These oddball tips are completely stock looking with factory looking welds etc. and they have small holes in the inside of the opening about 3" inside the tip. Did Ford ever make different tips on some Shelby models or California Specials? Stock muffler has #F1-7849-L part number as does the rolled tip muffler but the the larger tip muffler is #F1-8087 L and I believe it's a little lighter than the other two. All have the same look with the Ford logo in the same place above the part number.

I'll add some to this...I just picked these up today...$60. Supposedly very low mileage 07 Shelby (the seller had a GT500) non-rolled tip, slash cut with straight top tips. F-7991-R 1 123 7 with an 'A' at the end. I have the rolled tip mufflers on my 07 GT. The car does have the hood scoop and Pony engine cover. I'll see if I can get the numbers off it tomorrow.

The first picture is a gt500 muffler. The Bullitt muffler had double wall construction. The GT had rolled tips. V6 had a two piece outlet. I’m not 100% sure but this is my opinion. Thanks

GT500, but not GT500 KR.

From Tasca Ford Parts website (05-07 show the same part numbers). Note that 'C' and 'H' are 'packed tips' and for manual trans only. I would presume that would be resonator tips to reduce the drone on manual trans cars. And, of course, none of these numbers are on the mufflers themselves.... :

GT500KR:

From there it gets a little complicated as the site lists multiple part numbers, including the above, for all V8 Mustangs.

No info on Tasca for the FR500 mufflers or any other FRPP mufflers.

Very well could be Bullitt mufflers particularly if the Bullitt's came with special mufflers and tips. Next time I see one at a show somewhere I will check it out but from the video I would say it's a match. If you look inside the tip, does it have a bunch of small holes drilled into the inside liner of the tip?

Bullitts also had a specific H pipe with the crossover pipe diameter reduced to give a more distinct old school sound.

Looks like the Ford boys really had some fun when they were putting the Bullitt package together, there seems to be a lot more to it than most people thought. I was riding with a tow truck driver once and he used to move cars at a rail yard and he said those Bullitt cars really moved compared to any other Mustang he drove back then.

Pics of presumably stock mufflers on my 08 GT. Late 07 build, just before cylinder head spark plugs revision. Bought from the claimed first owner.

Yes, that’s the rolled tip that comes with the GT Appearance Package option first introduced in 2007 I think. Time to hit those with some Mothers metal polish. What’s the black trim around it, did you add a ground effects piece.

I was rearended about a year after getting the car. I paid a little extra out of my pocket and had the California Special/ GT 500 rear bumper covers installed with the CS paint scheme.

I swapped the oem mufflers on my 2010 GT auto with FRPP FRS-500 mufflers. These have 3.5" 304 SS alloy tips. The FRS-500 mufflers for the 2010 cars, the tips are 1" longer vs the 05-09 cars.

Once the JBA titanium coated LT's were installed, along with the mating JBA catted H section, it was way too loud, stupid loud, plus drone at 2 k rpm. My fix for that was to weld in a pair of SS Pypes M80 resonators..... just before the rear axle. Problem solved. Now it's perfect, and drone gone.
