I believe the baffle on the pcv is different that's why a lot of people are switching them out on the 5.0

Oh and btw there is no damn way it takes 10,000 miles to break in a motor!! If that's the case these new 5.0 engines better last for over a million miles! Haha

The good news is number 8 is good as are all of the other cylinders. Compression is good. PCV may be faulty. Im gonna replace it myself with the GT500 one. Im going to give it a 1000 miles and see how it goes.

so basically, theyre telling you to pound sand and that excessive oil consumption isnt excessive because they feel it isnt excessive, I can see their reasoning lol smh, how fucking pathetic! Ford should be ashamed of themselves.

It's BS if you ask me. There's no way that motor should be using that much oil at 10 miles, or 10,000 miles. Mine had 4 busted ring lands and even it didn't use that much oil.

Kinda funny how they call out 1qt for every 3,000 miles AFTER 10,000 mile break-in.... But they do NOT say what it should be BEFORE the 10,000 mile break-in.

So they did in fact do a compression test on the engine and all cylinders came back fine???

I agree. I dont blame the dealer or the FCC rep. They did what the ford engineers allowed them to do.

No and im not gonna add any either. Im going to drive it like normal and take it back to them for its next service. Which will be around 10k miles.

No arguement from me.

Yes they pulled the plugs and did a compression test. All cylinders were good.

did you discuss that with them? I ask because I'd hate for you to take it back and they check the oil and see 3 quarts and then deny coverage because you failed to maintain the motor.

Yes, i told them id check the oil and if it gets to where its not on the dipstick im bringing it back. If it doesnt you wont see me until its due service. The dealer didnt agree with the Ford engineers. They told me they wouldnt get paid if they continued working on the car, so they had to follow their protocol.

lol, so our motors eat oil as the norm after 10k mi? And according to Ford, 25% oil capacity eaten between recommended oil change intervals is normal? That's complete shit.

James I've said this before on this forum and no one seems to want to acknowledge that maybe I know what I'm talking about. I've seen engines with up to 20k miles use oil this way because they are not broken in fully. I'm not a mechanic by trade and by no means know all there is about engines, etc. but I've owned a bunch of them, raced a bunch, built a bunch and destroyed a bunch of them. I've only once in my life paid a mechanic to work on anything I have owned and that was a bad experience itself.

Go get your car, make sure it is full of oil, put two qts. in the trunk an take a road trip. At least 500 miles and run that thing like ya stole it. Don't let the oil cool off in it. It'll seat the rings or give you a legitimate claim one of the two. Do it this weekend. Run down to NO or SA. You need a weekend of cruising anyway after all this. Oh, and join AAA before ya go just in case!!! lol
