In about two years we'll see the 50th anniversary Mustang with it's new platform get released. It's supposedly going to be smaller and not retro. The last few cars Ford has released have been very good looking. I am positive Ford will continue that with the 2015 Mustang. I think that unless the 2015 is so butt ugly that I hate it, I want to start saving now so I can buy a shinny new 2016 Mustang GT just the way I want it (no leather). I will never buy a first year of production or major change car again. There are always hiccups to deal with. So I'll wait one year for production issues to be worked out.

I have a 2005 with about two years left on the loan. If I just do the few things I am looking at currently, I can make this car continue to be fun to drive for the next couple years and start saving now for a '16.

I have a good feeling on the next generation car.

Anyone else starting to think about getting one of the next generation cars?

I was thinking about saving for one, but if its anything like any of the concepts I've seen, I'll pass.

If it ends up ugly as sin, I can take the money and go in a different direction with the car I have or a newer Mustang.

The 2013 Genesis Coupe looks nice with its redesign and Hyundai has a new 4v 5.0 engine that makes 426 hp... I smell competition if they put it into that 3200lb chassis.

That would be a potent car.

Ya they put it in there sedans right now. Would be pretty nasty in the 2 door coupe.

I bet Ford will go with a sporty somewhat european look as appose to the american muscle car look with the new stang with regards to people wanting to be more fule efficent in todays economy...

Sometimes I think Ford will want to replace base model V8's (gas gusslers) with the twin turbo eco's (lots of power and fuel efficiency). Wouldn't be surprised if only the GT500's are the only one's to get a V8 powerplant in the future.

The current TT Eco-Boost 3.5 makes 365hp and 420 ft-lbs. I've read they can pump out over 400 hp without breaking a sweat. And something like 90% or more of the torque is available from 2000-5500 rpm in the currently available tunes. That's 378 ft-lbs ore more starting at 2000 and carrying to 5500. And they get good fuel economy.

I could not only live with that but embrace it.

I just looked it up. IN the F150...
"Ford engineers drew from their extensive experience using direct injection technology and turbocharging in diesel engine development and created the innovative EcoBoost™ engine. Direct injection produces a cooler, denser charge that generates more power per every drop of fuel, while the two small air-to-air intercooled turbochargers spool up much more quickly than a single large turbo. What you experience is instantaneous low-end torque responsiveness with virtually no turbo lag. EcoBoost generates 90 percent of its amazing 420 lb.-ft. of torque from 1,500 to 5,500 rpm."

They rate at 22 mpg highway, but a friend of mine reports 24-25 with his Crew or super Cab 4x4. The SHO Taurus is rated 26 mpg. That's equal to the 5.0 with a more broad and usable torque curve. They could easily match or beat the 5.0 for hp and deliver more MPG I am sure.

I just started saving up for either a 2016, or at that point, a used Boss 302. I don't like car payments so I usally will save up about 3 to 5 years ahead of time and pay cash.
