only thing i have to add is if its installed right, they shouldnt whine.

I had Motive 4.10s in my old mustang and they were just as quiet as stock.

Absolutely. there are so many garbage most about motives being 'bad' gears. In fact, motives are very good gears and ANY gear 'whining' is 100% install issues...period.

The reason you hear less about the FRPP gears is only because they are more forgiving. What I mean specifically by that is that they have a much larger installation room for working. They may not 'whine' - but they mot be installed great either. The motives require a precise installation or they will whine. That certainly doesn't mean they are 'bad' - it simply means they require an installer who knows what the hell is he is doing. But when it comes down to it - don't you want an installer who knows what he is doing?

Seems stupid to choose a gear based on the lack of skill level of the installer putting them in...lol

I have a set of Pro 5.0 3.90's waiting to go in that I armored at work, I've been in several cars with them that sounded no different than my 3.31's so I'm another vote for "its all in the install"

I'm running FRPP 3.73s and honestly I don't think they really whine much if any. I hear something in the 55 to 60mph area, but before and after that there is nothing. Its not even loud enough to be certain it actually IS gear whine.

True on the FRPP being more "forgiving"..........the true FORD gears are manufactured very simular (almost identical) to factory Ford ring and pinion sets. What does this mean?? They are easier to get "right". I have seen many people re-use the factory Ford shim that came with the car because the real FRPP gears are built almost identical (besides the gear ratio)..........Sorry if I sound confusing, I just don't know how to word things I guess.

I had motive 3.90's and they were as quiet as the stock gears. I wish I had kept them in the car now and may go back to 3.90's over the winter. I currently have frpp 3.73's in the car.
