And you, Marc, are a MUCH better than average racer, so the average guy driving your car would run a tenth or two slower.

Your 107 mph trap speed tells me you'd be running 12.80's if you ran drag radials so you could actually launch at WOT.

I appreciate the comment. That 13.02 was a 1.824 60'. I think it's possible to get under 1.80 on stock tires if the car was set-up correctly.

I have drag radials, 40 more HP and an aluminum shaft now. No ET yet, shooting for 12.30's. I'm putting the car on a diet since I can't avoid the nachos and Pacifico's. They're like crack to me.

Can't forgot about track conditions or prep. If the OP plans on taking the car to Fontana, forgot about 1.84 60' on street radial. Hell, 1.84 on drag radials would be nearly impossible at that track.

Wow, you're gonna make me work to stay ahead of you if we line up against each other!

I'm running out of bolt ons though. I'm going to order a FRPP intake, Racestars and 28x11-15 slicks this week. If all else fails my D1SC is under the bench waiting for ya.

gmantheman, your right, not all tracks are capable of low 60' times. I have always been lucky. Up until last year, I was the VP of the track that is 5 miles from my house. We would set up the track on a Thursday and spend half of the day prepping it. The other half of the day I would put the starting switch on a stool next to my drivers window. I could activate the timers and practice launching the car for hours. If the car did not 60' well, I would just do a U-turn and re-stage until the car left hard and then I would make a full run.

I, too, have been eyeing the FRPP intake. Just over $500 and it looks like it'll be great with forced induction - especially high rpm blowers like my Vortech V2.

We are, indeed, blessed to have such good track prep at our local tracks - Pacific Raceways and Bremerton. On drag radials, I consistently pull 1.79 to 1.85 60' times with my lazy automatic trans.

Hi, Patrick, I've got an automatic trans like you, and I leave the line at 4800 rpm's (big stall converter). The rear ends in our cars are fairly stout (31 spline axles). Go back a generation to the 28 spline axles, and you'd be asking for trouble launching like that.

Five Oh Brian where in the northwest are you at, I am in Dupont WA.

Just north of Tacoma in Kent. I thought about buying a house in Dupont a couple years ago - love the planned look to the business/residential areas just off I-5 in Dupont! Ended up buying a house closer to work, though. Good to see some local guys here!

Hi, Patrick. My 4800 rpm stall converter was made by Fuddle Racing in Utah. They were quite well known in GM performance circles with the F-body cars (Camaro/Firebird/GTO) and when they started offering Ford converters for our 5R55S transmissions I did lots of research and ordered one. I think they've since gone out of business as I can't find their website any longer. I've had zero problems with my converter. I've heard lots of horror stories about the TCI converters. PI seems to be making a good product. Beyond PI (or Fuddle, if you can find them), I don't know who to recommend.

Converters are very simple inside, but explaining the tech side and theory of it would take long time, so I'd recommend Googling it. Basically, I'd recommend a lock-up converter so that you retain decent fuel economy on the highway plus good pulling power at the far end of the dragstrip. Fuddle's converter featured twice as much clutch area vs stock, so it could handle lock-up at wide open throttle - even in supercharged cars like mine. For a street car, you'll find great results with a converter rated to flash to 3000-3500 rpm's (based on a stock, 300hp 4.6L). The more mods you do, the higher rpm's the same converter will flash to. For example, my converter was rated for 3400-3600 rpm's on a stock 300hp 4.6L. N/A with minor mods it flashed to 3800 rpm's. With the blower, it flashes to 4800 rpm's now.
