What about new cars......never any break-in procedure for gears??

New cars don't come with aftermarket gears. Factory gears run about 3x the price of aftermarket gears. Aftermarket gears generate a whole lot of heat until they lap themselves in.

In the end do what you think it right. After all, it's your hard work and money.

That was a large factor in my decision to listen to people suggesting I properly break them in. After spending nearly $500 on parts/labor, I can keep the loud pedal in check for a week.
