either way a stock 4r isn't gonna like the power you're throwing down, so you might as well buy a used unit and have it built and call it a day. i mean god there so many cars ford bult with the 4r, every tbird with a 4.6, mark 8's, mustangs, ect. there a dime a dozen and cheap

I have the FB Performance 4STB-E which is basically their name for their built 4R70W. Great guys and great customer service. Mine should hold some where around 1000HP. They are not cheap when built right with the right converter. I have almost $9k in mine but I have never had a problem with it even with 800hp going through it.

A full 4R70W setup for an S197 is not going to be what you call cheap but they are out there. Good luck.

If you want to play you have to pay! That's all I will say, buy a 4500 dollar conversion and be crying in a week or two saying how your converter doesn't hold up and how you broke 2nd gear....bla bla bla. 8 to 10k is about how much a bad azz conversion goes for.....

I spent less than 7 INSTALLED from FB performance. That included a new driveshaft, trans cooler, the works. Mike will take care of you. Call FB. you wont be dissapointed
