I would like to have someone else who is familer with the S197 make a few passes in my car.

I would love to but.....

After the data logging and the tweeks you will be fine.

I put my slips on a spreadsheet and see where I am gaining or losing.
(1/4-1000') (1000'-1/8) (1/8-330) (330-60')
I can see the avg and can tell where I am vs where I should be.

I know, I geek it. It helps me see vs what I believe is what is going on. As a simple tool you can see:

Run 1:
1.746
5.353 it took you3.607 sec. to get to the 330' from the 60'
8.399 it took you 3.046 sec. to get to the 1/8 from 330'
81.808 mph is low and the tune will fix that.

I have a similar run:

1.982 60'
5.474 330' 3.492 sec.
8.344 1/8 2.87 sec.
85.25 mph

When you come off the line your car is not carrying the momentum it had in the 60'. Wheel hop could be it or slow shift could be it or both. Check to see if your throttle plates open all the way with your foot on the floor. With the consistant numbers I doubt it is driver and more towards car. Recalibrate the throttle with the peddle.

I don't know much about the tunes on these cars but amazon is your source for that.

Good luck.

Thanks for explanation. I do remember reading the custom tuning policy about datalogging but when I drove the car on the street, it seemed spot on. I need to do some research on how to datalog. I have never done it. After work, I will try to stop at the dyno shop right down the road from me and check the A/F. I will see if he can help me with data logging.

i can show you, next street legals if you are using sct i can show you.

I guess I kinda geek it too. I told Rick that according to the 1/4 mile ranking list, my 1000' to 1320' seems a little slow. My 1000' is 10.993 but my 1/4 is only 13.185. I seen a few others on the ranking list with slower 1000' but faster 1/4 mile. Also my mph is is 2-4 MPH slower than most.
I am not experiencing anywheel hop. I am not sure about my shifting speed but maybe it could be a little quicker.

Took the car to the 1/8 mile track for test and tune. I only made 3 clean passes, two with the Amazon tuning and one with Bama 91 performance. I loaded the wrong Bama race tune, so I couldn't run that. I may need to make a few more runs but so far it seems my dyno tune made the best times. Here are two of my fastest runs today.

Run 1:
60' 1.899
330' 5.580
1/8 8.636 at 81.459

Run 2:
60' 1.852
330' 5.532
1/8 8.602 at 81.014

Run 3 with 91 performance. I don't know if it was the track or the tune but this one seemed to bog on the launch.

60' 2.132
330' 5.732
1/8 8.835 at 79.885

Here are my three fastest run with my dyno tune. I was running the dyno tune almost exclusively but I can guarantee the Bama race tune would have ran the same.

Run 1:
60' 1.746
330' 5.353
1/8 8.399 at 81.808

Run 2:
60' 1.824
330' 5.438
1/8 8.485 at 81.682

Run 3:
60' 1.799
330' 5.438
1/8 8.500 at 81.235

D/A for both days are about the same.

based on those times, had you been able to launch with the bama tune, it would have definitely been your fastest ET. compared to your 8.399 run, your 60' was almost 4 tenths slower with the bama tune and your total ET was barely over 4 tenths slower. you might have been in the high 8.2s, but at least low 8.3s

That was my 2nd time using the bama performance 91 tune at the track. When I use the bama race tune, my 60' are in the 1.8 range. For some reason, the performance tune bogs a little at the start or maybe I didn't have the RPMS high enough.

What are you launching at? What tires?

I usually don't look at my RPMs but I would say just over 5K most of the time. When I stage and both lights are one I slowly begin to rev. When the first yellow is on I rev a little faster and by the time I launch, my foot is on the floor. I find this easier than holding the RPMs steady. My 60' normally range from mid to high 1.8s to mid to high 1.7s. Last time at the track I was using my M&H racemasters 275/50/17. I also have M/T ET streets. Both tires give me identical 60' times and about the same E.Ts. I went with the M&H because the track is a little narrow and the M/T tend to float a little.

I guess it's just going to be the lovely gas you have in California. I cut almost the exact same 60' times on the same tire. I still think you should be trapping higher than that though. Is there another 1/8 mile close by?

There is but it's basically a parking lot. Even with drag radials, I can cut only 2.2 60'. At the 1/4 mile track, my 1/8 mile split MPH is about the same although I have a couple of 82 MPH at the 1/8.

I do fine at Fontucky. My 60' are in the 1.7 to 1.8 range, 1/8 mile is 8.4XXX to 8.6XXX and 1/4 13.185 (PB) to about 13.5 on avg. Race Legal at Qualcomm is were I can't cut a good 60.

what did the car run stock?
Never ran the 1/4 or even 1/8 mile stock. I don't think I have my 1st time slips but at the 1/8 mile with street tires and intake and tune I would run 8.8 to 9.4 at 82 or 83 MPH. First time at the 1/4 mile with the addition of LCA and UCA I was in the mid to low 14s at 101 or 102. If you are on street tires with N/A S197 you will be lucky to get 13s on this track.

Not sure about your elevation/track conditions but here in Florida during the summer heat i ran a 8.2@87mph w/ a 1.8 60ft.

Intake/LTs/3.73s/UDP/CMCVs on street tires. Car is tuned to shift at 6500rpms. (Automatic)

During the summer both the 1/8 mile and 1/4 miles tracks D/A is easily 3000' to 4000'. The 1/8 mile tracks elevation is located 1650' and the 1/4 is located 1150'.
