Beat me to it! I'm on book 6, Lord of Chaos. Fantastic series!

Whats really neat is the 2nd time you re-read the series, you will notice Jordan foreshadowed the whole story in book 1 with lots of subtle events and seemingly random clips out of conversations between characters.

Amazing when you think of the level of planning and forethought that took on a story that took him 10+ books and 15 years to write.

Too bad he died before finishing his work.

We'll never get to read the 2 other pre-quel he had planned as well covering how Rand's dad found him on Dragon Mnt. and Morainie's journey into the Two Rivers just before the start of book 1.

im reading Mein Kampf and The Road to Serfdom right now. its interesting to read a Socialist's book where the main focus is the righteousness of Socialism and on the other hand, to read a book about the harm of Socialism at the same time.

Mein Kampf is a good book... took me forever to finish it though.

I've been "working on" The Road to Serfdom for a while now. I just have trouble reading non-fiction books that don't tell a story unless I have to.

Then read "exposing the real Che" and see how his calling lead him on a path of murder and executions of thousands of innocents at his own hands.

Perhaps this book is a revelation to its readers. However, if you are old enough and live or have lived in South Florida, particularly Dade county, you would know of first hand accounts. That said, you can't kill the man, particularly in certain areas of South America. Read this:

Che Guevara is a historical fact. He has influenced Latin American history. Look at it today with Hugo Chavez (Venezuela, OPEC member), Evo Morales, etc. Personally, I am keeping a watchful eye on the situation inside Mexico. As my father's friend once told me, it would be on our southern border where we would wage our third world war.

On a different note, I also enjoyed reading The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas.

Just had a convo with my wife; turns out her public school never had her read "To Kill a Mockingbird", or "Moby Dick", or "A Seperate Peace", or "All Quiet on the Western Front".

"War" about the Kornagal Out Post in Afghanistan was really good, then again I've been there so I might not be impartial. "Decision Points" was also pretty good surprisingly. I mostly like Science Fiction and Fiction though.

im reading Lone Survivor right now as a matter of fact. just finished the first chapter tonight. ive been working on America For Sale but needed a little break from the terror of our dire fiscal reality.

Currently reading Lost in Shangri-La by Mitchell Zuckoff. Great story and well worth the read it's about a WWII airplane crash and rescue mission.

Love to read.. its one of my ways to "escape" the everyday stuff that annoys me. I love good fiction, and Clive Cussler's stuff is good. Dirk Pitt rocks! Lately, I have read a few Civil War Novels.. Shaara's "the Killer Angels" is a really good book.

I also read alot of history. Being a military guy, I am drawn to that genre. Recently I have been reading Civil War and and War of Indepedence books.. love it. I read alot of WWII biographies (Bob Johnson, Adolph Galland, Hub Zemke, etc) and others that outline campaigns.

I bet I have read 50 books since Jan 1. When I go out for a smoke, I take a book with me. I get up early, and read a few chapters, Read before going to bed...

once you get partway in to lone survivor you wont put it down.
and 'Unbroken' is also from WWII, its about a guy who grew up in cali, wound up running in the '36 berlin olympics, then goes to war in the AAF, plane crashes, survival ensues. incredible story

If I can suggest a good book that may interest you. War by Sebastion Junger. Junger is a reporter that was with SF unit in the Kandahar province. Same unit that the MoH winner Salvatore Giunta was with and this book covers the battle in which Giunta's actions resulted in him being awarded the MoH. Riveting book. If you haven't done so already, rent Restrepo too. Same unit/campaign.

That unit was B Company, or Battle Company, they are not a SF or Special Forces unit, they are a Airborne Infantry Company from the 173RD Airborne Brigade Combat Team. It is a very good book, however, you have some of the details wrong. They were NOT in the Kandahar Province either. They were in the Kornigal Vally. They were in the Kornigal Outpost or KOP as it is known, and at a LP/OP called Restrepo named after a medic who had died in one of their TIC's or Troops In Contact.

Another good book you may want to read is "Thunder Run" it was also written by a reporter in bedded with an Army unit. In this case 2nd Brigade 3rd Infantry Division. I forgot who wrote it though.
