I posted this pic in the "What has made your day" thread the other day.
Back story: 1967 F100 with a C6 trans and a 351C out of a '73 Mach1.
It has a burned valve and I want to put another cam in while getting the valve job done.

It will not be a hotrod, just a cruiser, but I want a little more than the stock 2bbl cam offers. Does anyone have input for a good cam for this engine? I saw Jegs has several which include new lifters also.

Also, a good source for restoration parts, as this needs a bit of work.

TIA for your advice.

Doing any towing? There always an RV cam. Are you oding any head work to it? I assume you want to save some at the pump, so I wouldnt go to crazy with it.

LMC truck is a good place for parts. OEM quality parts.

So if its just a cruiser, are you just looking for a more aggressive sound?

Cam selection to make power depends on many things. Do you have any pics of the engine bay? What are the mods?

I have always had good luck with Comp Cams K kits. Includes everything you need. Consider your compression, stall converter, gears, etc when picking the cam. Also you will need an intake and four barrel carb. Might as well put a set of headers on and you'll be ready to go.

I don't want to run a crazy stall on the TC and want good bottom end power as well. I am sure there will be some light towing, but mostly just a driver.
Sound is good as long as it doesn't interfere with driveability. I'd love a good lope, but not if I have to run a 3000 stall converter.
The engine bay is wide open, it was originally a straight 6 three speed.
It has a Holley 4bbl on it - 600 cfm I think - and I have a Holley Street Dominator intake for it already.
The gears are whatever came in it stock.
Headers are definitely on the agenda, but these trucks came with the Y block V8 (352, 390, etc), so not sure about fitment for Cleveland motor.
Thanks for the input, and LMC seems to have about everything you need to fix up one of these trucks!

Maybe one of these. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cca-k32-219-3/overview/make/ford or http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cca-k32-241-4/overview/make/ford. It is amazing how cheap this looks compared to the stuff for our newer engines. Considering your low stall, low compression, and possible towing you need a small cam. Some say stay under .500 lift on stock pistons. One of these cams have higher exhaust lift which some say helps with stock heads. This is old school before dyno's from my experience which is why I say "some say" lol. While your in there you might as well gasket match the intake to the heads. And also the exhaust port to the headers. Don't polish the intake side. You want the air and fuel to continue to mix. I even teardrop where the valves come thru the intake ports. But some will say don't do any of this without a flowbench. To me this stuff is fun but will make a big difference in the way the truck runs.

The 352, 390, 428 are FE blocks not Y blocks.

If its a 2bbl 351C, you have the better heads for the street. 4bbl heads have huge ports. 2bbl heads are plenty big anyway. I'd go for a 204/214 duration cam or maybe a step more. I had a 204/214 split duration cam in my 289 and it sounded pretty good. Not much of a lope, but healthy exhaust note. Your larger cubes could handle a bit more and do well.

Got the cam kit (cam, lifters, springs, seals, retainers) and some roller rockers in today!

I also have a complete cab seal kit, and window regulators coming to get it weathertight again.

May leave the paint for a while, interior needs work.

I replaced the window regulators last week and got the intake and heads off yesterday. Taking them to the machine shop tomorrow, it has a burned valve. Roller rockers going on it with the new camshaft.

Got the headers and head gasket kit. The heads should be done this week.
Gotta get time to put the new camshaft in there first

Not yet. The machine shop took forever on the heads. I had to get all new valves too.
I've been traveling like crazy, but hope to do it this weekend.

Heads are ready, hope to get the new cam/timing set installed tomorrow.

I got hardened inserts put in the valve seats as they were eroding pretty badly. Apparently the no-lead gas is hard on them. All new valves and springs too.

Pulled the water pump harmonic balancer and from cover off.
Got the timing gears and chain off, it had tons of slack in it! Worn out.
Got the old cam and lifters out, cam had several badly worn lobes, definitely adding to the miss caused by the burned valve.
Ready to start building it back
